Well, talking about the best American companies to work for in 2016, which company would come in your mind? Google, Facebook, Apple, etc. would be the most definite guess for most of us. Yes, Google had been listed as the #1 Best Companies to Work For in 2015. This year, it has been replaced by Airbnb.
Glassdoor has released its annual Employees' Choice Awards list naming the 50 best places to work in 2016, according to the people who are currently there. Airbnb has been successful enough to grab the top position on the list. Bain & Company and Guidewire were placed in second and third rank respectively.
Every year, Glassdoor, a job & career site, publishes the Top 50 best Places to Work In. The participating companies should have employed more than 1,000 people and have received at least 50 approved company Glassdoor reviews in the past year. And, in order to determine the best companies, Glassdoor asks the members of the companies to provide their views on the best reasons to work for their companies along with the downsides. The overall ranking (on a five-point scale) was determined based on the quantity, quality and consistency of these reviews.
This year, while Airbnb grabbed the 1st position, Facebook managed to take the 5th position, followed by LinkedIn in the 6th position. Standing in the No. 1 position in the Year 2015, Google ranked in the 8th position for the year 2016.
Among the top 50 companies listed, most of the companies IT (Information Technology) based. Of the total companies, 36% of the companies provided IT related services like website, insurance, online travel company, etc., followed by Business Services that occupied 12% of the list. A recent survey conducted by Brandz on “TOP 100 MOST VALUABLE GLOBAL BRANDS 2015” revealed the 100 most valuable global brands in 2015 in terms of their brand value and brand contribution. This list also showed that technology firms were listed well among the 100 brands listed in the report. All these studies show that IT companies are performing very well & thus providing the best working benefits & environment to its employees.
Other categories competing in the list includes pet care, manufacturing, construction, retail, restaurants, etc. looking at the current trend of IT industry in Nepal, it would not be wrong to say that, IT industry can soon become the most wanted career choice for Nepali job market too.
