UN Traineeship Programme initiated by UN agencies in Nepal and administered by Real Solutions Pvt Ltd, organized a graduation ceremony for 42 trainees of Cohort IX on 14th November 2022. The graduation ceremony was held at the UN House, Pulchowk, Lalitpur.
The trainees completed 11 months full time on the job training with access to mentoring and practical experiences in the International UN working environment.
Working in units like GESI & Research, Child Protection, DRR & Emergency, Communication, Programme, and many more, the trainees got an opportunity to work with diverse teams, develop their competencies and had a chance to learn from highly skilled mentors.
Nibedan Baidya on behalf of the OMT Co-Chair shared, “This program was inclusive and the trainees were selected through a rigorous process where our outsourced agency Real Solution helped us together with the UN representative of UN agencies for the selection of the trainees.”
“The past 11 months have been an exhilarating experience, helping me turn into an individual that has grown so much not only as a professional but as a person from the heart,” says Reshmi Sunar UN Trainee - UNFPA. Furthermore, Reshmi added that she has learned many new things, unlearned a lot of stereotypes that were taught to her, and also relearned many things.
Similarly, Shashank Joshi from Strategic Engagement Team - at UNDP shared that the Traineeship was a great experience that honed his skills and trained him to be a professional. He added the key takeaway learned from this traineeship was to engage with marginalized and under-represented communities to achieve sustainable development goals.
The mentors also demonstrated a high level of satisfaction with their trainees. Sachita Gorkhali said “ I feel all the trainees working so hard, participating and leading each one of the UN events to make it a success. A big thank you to the trainees for the energy you have brought to us.”
The mentors expressed that graduation from the UN Traineeship Programme is not an end but a start to a beautiful journey. Through this experience, the trainees have gained professional skills that have enhanced their employability prospects in the competitive job market.
