Roles and responsibilities of this job

The Customs Clearance Officer will be responsible for managing the end-to-end import clearance process, ensuring timely release of shipments (raw materials, finished products, health supplements, cosmetics, etc.) from ports and airports. This role requires navigating complex regulatory requirements, liaising with government agencies, and coordinating with C&F agents to minimize demurrage and ensure timely availability of products.

Key Responsibilities

1. Customs Clearance & Compliance

Accurately prepare, review, and submit all import/export documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists,
Properly classify products using the correct codes to ensure accurate duty calculation and compliance.
Maintain close liaison with customs authorities, port authorities, and regulatory bodies (health ministries for supplements) to ensure compliance.
Monitor, renew, and update all required import licenses, permits and Trade Licenses & other documentation work

2. Port & Shipment Operations

Regularly visit customs and port offices (sea/air/land) to follow up on the status of shipments.
Coordinate with freight forwarders, shipping lines, and C&F agents to ensure smooth cargo movement from port to warehouse.
Monitor shipment status and update management/warehouse teams on expected time of arrival.
Expertly handle sensitive or regulated cargo

3. Documentation & Reporting

Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of all customs documentation, duties paid, and clearance files.
Minimize demurrage and detention charges through proactive clearance.
Prepare regular reports on clearance status, duty payments, and shipment bottlenecks.

4. Product registration

Handle product registration with relevant regulatory authorities (e.g., health, food, cosmetics, or other applicable bodies)
Manage the submission of product technical files to relevant regulatory agencies (e.g., FDA, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Commerce) for necessary permits and licenses.
Ensure timely renewal of import licenses, product registrations
Ensure imported products meet local labeling, packaging, and safety standards before release.
Stay updated on changing trade policies, tariffs, and product compliance regulations, providing insights to internal teams to prevent non-compliance.

Required qualifications for this job

Required Education Level:Under Graduate (Bachelor)

Required Experience:More than 3 years

Other Specification

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
3–4 years of hands-on experience in customs clearance, preferably within the FMCG or health product industry.
Experience in port operations
Strong knowledge of import procedures, LC operations, and regulatory compliance
Automated customs software.
Deep understanding of local tariff structures, customs acts, and import/export regulations.
High level of integrity, negotiation skills, ability to work under pressure, and proactive problem-solving abilities.

Salary: 50,000 – 60,000 Nepalese Rupee(negotiable; based on experience & skills)

Working Hour: 10.00 am to 6.00 pm (Monday – Saturday)

Benefits:

Festival Bonus, Meal Allowances, Mobile Allowances, other leave and other benefits as per Nepal Labor Law

Meal Allowance: Rs.3640, Mobile Allowance: Rs.1120
