Job Description

Roles and responsibilities of this job

The Procurement Officer will be responsible for managing stock levels, coordinating imports, and ensuring efficient warehouse operations. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work closely with internal teams and international suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory Management:

Monitor and maintain optimal stock levels of lenses and related optical products.
Conduct regular inventory audits, reconcile discrepancies, and implement corrective measures.

Import Coordination:

Coordinate with overseas suppliers to ensure timely procurement of goods.
Handle and manage all import-related documentation and logistics processes.

Forecasting & Planning:

Collaborate with sales and procurement teams to forecast demand and align inventory levels.
Prepare monthly and quarterly inventory reports and analyze trends to improve turnover.

Warehouse & Systems Management:

Oversee warehouse operations including receiving, storage, and dispatch.
Implement and maintain inventory management systems (ERP or Excel-based tracking).
Ensure proper organization, cleanliness, and compliance within storage areas.

Cost & Efficiency Management:

Monitor inventory carrying costs and recommend cost optimization strategies.
Minimize stock obsolescence and pilferage through effective inventory control practices.

Job Specification

Required qualifications for this job

Required Education Level:Under Graduate (Bachelor)

Required Experience:More than 2 years

Other Specification

Bachelor’s degree in Commerce or a related field.
2–3 years of experience in inventory management, preferably in an import or trading environment.
Strong knowledge of import documentation, customs clearance, and inventory control systems (ERP, Tally, SAP, etc.).
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data reporting tools.
Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail.
Ability to adapt to new technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, for improved efficiency and decision-making.
Excellent coordination, communication, and negotiation skills.
Strong problem-solving and organizational abilities.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

Stock accuracy (variance between physical and system inventory)
On-time import and replenishment rate
Inventory turnover ratio
Reduction in ageing and obsolete stock
