Assistant System Administrator

Department: IT Infrastructure
Reports To: Deputy Operations Manager (IT)

Job Summary: 

This role supports IT Operations by handling system administration tasks, resolving hardware and software issues, and maintaining network reliability. It also includes assisting with the configuration, deployment, and upkeep of IT systems, as well as providing end-user support for teams in Nepal and across global locations.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

System Administration and Maintenance

• Assist in installing, configuring, and maintaining servers (hardware and software).
• Support virtualized environments (VMware) and cloud services (AWS, Azure, Office 365).
• Perform routine system checks and basic performance tuning to ensure stability and security.

Network and Infrastructure Support

• Monitor network devices (routers, switches, firewalls) and troubleshoot connectivity issues.
• Assist in implementing network security measures and maintaining VPN configurations.

Security and Compliance

• Apply security policies and manage user access through Active Directory and Office 365.
• Support compliance efforts by following established protocols and documenting processes.

Backup and Disaster Recovery

• Execute scheduled backups and verify data integrity.
• Assist in testing disaster recovery procedures and maintain related documentation.

System Optimization and Automation

• Identify repetitive tasks and create basic scripts for automation under guidance.
• Monitor system resources and recommend optimizations.

Technical Support and Troubleshooting

• Provide Tier-2 support for system and network issues.
• Document troubleshooting steps and contribute to internal knowledge base.
• Be available to work outside regular hours when required by business needs or system issues.

Project Participation

• Assist in system upgrades, migrations, and deployments.
• Collaborate with team members and learn project management best practices.
