Job Description

Responsible to : HCF Board – HYF – M4H – HYF-UK 

The General Manager is accountable to the HCF Board and through the Chair of Trustees to the Board of Trustees. The General Manager is responsible for the efficient management and administration of Kailash home and HCF services. The General Manager will sustain effective working relationships with key stakeholders including staff colleagues, volunteers and contract staff, families, Government Departments, the school, local and business community.   

The General Manager will be responsible for all aspects of the daily operation of the hostel, specifically the health and safeguarding of the students, as well as organizing and training of the operational team and volunteers.  

Main purpose of the role:

The General Manager must provide strong leadership and continue to develop a shared vision which inspires students, their families, staff and other members of the wider educational, local and business community. You will act as a role model for staff in their dealings with the students. 

This vision should aim to promote the rights, needs and aspirations of all students and their families through the provision of high-quality educational, training, advice, care and student safeguarding, enabling all students to achieve maximum progress and attainment within a safe environment and able to play a full role in their community. 

Responsible for : 

  • Strategic development, leadership and management of Kailash
  • Trustee support and liaison with donor organisations
  • Financial and quality control of HCF services, programme planning and implementation
  • Overall hostel operational staff, child residents, time scheduling, children academic progress, health support, property and vehicle

Professional Qualifications:

  • University degree in Social work, Education, Non-profit, Public administration, or related field with work experience in a leadership role  
  • High English knowledge required
  • Bilingual candidates in Nepalese and Tibetan language highly desirable
  • Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach staff, manage and develop high-performance team, set and achieve strategic objectives and manage a budget
  • Transparent and high integrity leadership
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills
  • Keep all stakeholder involved informed, updated and motivated
  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people
  • Passion, idealism, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven and self-directed
  • Have experience working with non-profit board organisation. Setup meeting, report and get due financial and administrative approval and signatures from HCF Board member- for annual program, new projects
  • Keeping the Board informed on progress, challenges, and new initiatives to achieve organisation goals

Languages:  

  • Multilingual
  • Proficient in English
  • Nepalese language
  • Fluency in Bhotbasha is highly desirable
