Roles and responsibilities of this job

To support the Category Manager in day-to-day execution of category operations — including product selection, listing, pricing, supplier coordination, and performance tracking. The role is central to ensuring smooth on-ground execution of category strategy and contributes directly to sales, margin, and customer satisfaction goals.

Reports to: Category Manager

Key Responsibilities

1. Category Support & Execution

Assist in implementing category-wise sales targets, growth plans, campaigns, and seasonal strategies set by the Category Manager.
Research and shortlist potential products, trends, and new opportunities for category review and approval.
Help maintain and update category structure (hierarchies, filters, tags) for better searchability and discoverability.
Support coordination within the category team to ensure timely completion of assigned tasks.

2. Product Selection & Merchandising

Assist in product selection by evaluating samples, specifications, pricing, and market fit alongside the Category Manager and sourcing team.
Coordinate with content and sourcing teams for accurate and timely onboarding and listing of products.
Ensure listings have accurate images, descriptions, pricing, and specifications; flag and fix errors or gaps.
Conduct regular competitor price and promotion checks and report findings.

3. Sales & Performance Tracking

Track daily/weekly sales, margins, sell-through rates, and inventory health for assigned sub-categories.
Prepare reports and dashboards for the Category Manager on category performance, conversions, AOV, and ROI.
Assist in identifying slow-moving and out-of-stock products and recommend corrective actions.

4. Supplier Coordination

Coordinate with vendors and the sourcing team on product availability, lead times, and order follow-ups.
Track and log vendor fill rates, product quality issues, and pending deliveries.
Support cost negotiation efforts by gathering pricing data and vendor comparisons.

5. Promotions & Campaign Support

Assist in planning and executing campaigns, flash sales, category events, and homepage placements.
Coordinate with the marketing team for creative assets, banners, and product information needed for promotions.
Support in drafting influencer briefs and ad creative inputs relevant to category themes.

Additional Notes : This role is dynamic and evolving. The responsibilities listed above are representative but not exhaustive. The Category Executive may be assigned additional tasks as needed to support the category team and overall company objectives.
