Job Title: Associate Director of School and Community impact
Fixed Term Contract from January 1, 2021 - July 2022 (Probable Extension)
Reports to: Director of Programs

About Teach For Nepal: 

Teach For Nepal currently has 137 outstanding university graduates as Fellows teaching in public and government schools in seven districts. By our eight year of engagement in the community we have impacted almost 30,000 plus children.

Job Purpose: 

To support Fellows in exercising leadership in the classroom and community for two years’ leadership journey to drive academic and non academic impact in students.

Key Responsibilities: 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: 

  • Create vision, goals, and strategy for developing Fellows into highly effective teachers driving transformational student impact 
  • Continuously refine TFN’s intended impact on student achievement, aspiration, and access to educational opportunity 
  • Set ambitious and feasible goals for student impact outcomes, with measurable metrics
  • Develop strategy for reaching student impact goals, tailored to the context 
  • Employ data-driven approach to continuously learning and refining vision, goals, and strategy 
  • Design, plan and execute Fellow support and professional development programs based on organization’s vision of impact 

Manage a team to implement strategy for training fellows to maximize their impact on students 

  • Design and oversee implementation of leadership and professional development program over 2-year fellowship experience 
  • Adapt and integrate Teaching As Leadership framework into TFN’s work 
  • Identify examples of transformational teaching in rural Nepalese context and ensure incorporation into Support approach 
  • Build a strong team culture to ensure the sustainable environment for every team member to work 
  • Coach and develop team members on fellow support and management skills and cultivate them as future leaders of the Training & Support team 

Stakeholders Engagement

  • Build lasting partnerships with key leaders and organizations in the education community to gain support and resources for Fellow training and development efforts 
Collaboration to achieve vision: 

  • Associate Director of Knowledge Development and Training 
  • Alumni Affairs Manager 
  • Community Affairs Manager

  • Demonstrates deep commitment and understanding of TFN’s mission and Theory of Change
  • Results-oriented, ability to work with data, strategic and critical thinker, ability to prioritize and give equal effort and attention to multiple projects to continuously learn and refine vision, goals, and strategy 
  • Ability to creatively solve problems, mediate conflicts, negotiate and communicate assertively in Nepali/English with relevant external stakeholders (internal and external) to sustain collaboration
  • Ability to invest in stakeholders to achieve ambitious goals collectively 
  • Entrepreneurial attitude, working independently while also being a team player
  • Ability to create and execute strategic plan 
  • Ability to manage and maintain high spirit/leading a team towards achieving ambitious goals 
  • Excellent communication, both in English and Nepali language ( oral and written )

Requirements 

  • Masters Degree related to Education Leadership, Crisis and Conflict Management, Development studies, Innovation or any other relevant area 
  • Minimum 6 years of working experience with at-least 2 years in managerial positions 
  • More than two years of teaching experience will be an advantage 
  • Experience of working in community and local context 
  • Excellent knowledge of pedagogy preferred 
  • Excellent proficiency in MS Office and database applications (preferably Salesforce) 

Location: Kathmandu based with few visits in placement communities to deepen the understanding of TFN and its work 

Salary: As per TFN policies
