Job Description

Who we are looking for

The Trek and Tour Leader will plan and facilitate trek programming and trips for Himalayan Encounters. H/she will act as day-to-day guide, interpreter, and manager of the group. The Trek and Tour Leader will be responsible to deal directly with your traveller's issues and concerns, ensuring that passenger satisfaction is effectively achieved.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Be responsible to provide day-to-day guidance, interpret (as needed) and manage the assigned group of pax(s)
  • In the tour, directly deal with traveller's issues and concerns. Ensure passengers are satisfied with the service.
  • Maintain the established travel itinerary as closely as possible, making changes only when necessary.
  • Make reservations for accommodation, transportation, and activities as required.
  • Assist and accompany travellers during optional activities and meals.
  • Advise travellers on suitable restaurants, additional transport requirements, purchase of souvenirs, etc.
  • Maintain daily expenditure accounts, collect receipts, and keep expenses within the provided trip budget.
  • Represent best interests of The Intrepid Group, its Brands, and its agents at all times, and 
  • Implement The Intrepid Group management decisions and execute all lawful and reasonable instructions.
  • Abide by the laws of the country where the Group Leaders is located, and ensure passengers are aware of and comply with these same laws.
  • Ensure The Intrepid Group’s reputation is protected and promoted.
  • Ensure compliance of The Intrepid Group’s policies and guidelines.

Qualification and Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 year(s) of related experience in similar position is required.
  • Diploma, Advanced/Higher/Graduate Diploma, Hospitality/Tourism/Hotel Management or equivalent are highly preferable.
  • Trekking or Guiding License from Nepalese Government is a must.
  • First Aid Training and or Certification is required. Wilderness Training is preferred.
  • Good command of English language (verbal and written) is mandatory. Ability to speak other languages: Spanish, French and Germany is an advantage.
  • Leader Training from NATHAM (Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management)

Other Skills and Attributes:

  • Excellent leadership and communication skill is required
  • Awareness and commitment to sustainable tourism is a must.
  • Experience handling/ developing trip budget is required.
  • Ability to act with integrity, honesty, and respect whilst conducting PEAK DMC business. 
  • Familiarity and knowledge of key holiday destinations is preferred.

Success Factor:    

The Trek and Tour guide should be passionate about travel, dynamic and self-motivated. A successful Trek and Tour Leader will have knowledge about the Trekking Trial of Nepal and Tourist sites (Heritage) of Country. H/She will be familiar and experience in trekking in medium or high altitudes. H/She will have ample experience as a leader with both Trek and Tour. The Trek and Tour Leader will be capable of dealing with customer and ensuring their expectations are met and reputation of Himalayan Encounters is maintained.
