Roles and responsibilities of this job

The Senior Finance Officer will be responsible for managing the financial operations of an operating hydropower plant, ensuring accurate accounting, efficient revenue management, statutory compliance, and financial control. The role supports sustainable financial performance, regulatory compliance, and informed decision-making in line with company policies.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Prepare annual operating budgets, maintenance budgets and analyze budget variances, and rolling cash flow forecasts.
Monitor operational expenses (O&M), administrative costs, and capital replacement expenditures.
Maintain complete and accurate books of accounts in compliance with NFRS/IFRS and applicable laws.
Manage energy billing and revenue collection in accordance with the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).
Reconcile meter readings, energy dispatch data, and invoices with the power purchaser.
Ensure compliance with income tax, VAT, withholding tax, and other statutory obligations.
Coordinate statutory, tax, and internal audits and prepare response to audit observations.
Maintain fixed asset registers and ensure periodic verification of assets.
Account for major repairs, replacements, and refurbishments in line with accounting standards.
Support good corporate governance and transparent financial practices.
Assist in preparation of financial reports, notes, and presentations for management and board meetings.
All other works as provided by the finance head

Job Specification

Required qualifications for this job

Required Education Level:Graduate (Masters)

Required Experience:More than 5 years

Other Specification

Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related discipline.
Minimum 5 years of experience in finance and accounts, preferably in Hydropower or Energy Projects.

Skills and Competencies

Strong knowledge of accounting standards, taxation, and financial reporting.
Practical understanding of hydropower operations and revenue mechanisms.
Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel.
Strong analytical, coordination, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and meet statutory deadlines.
