Job Description

Job Title: Selection Coordinator
Duration: Fixed Term Contract from April 17, 2017 - March 2018
Reports to: Recruitment & Selection Manager
Location: The position is based in Kathmandu valley
Salary: Based on Teach for Nepal’s policies

Job Purpose:

To lead selection of outstanding university graduates and young professional as Teach for Nepal Fellows.

Key Responsibilities:  
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Select outstanding university graduates and young professionals who will be successful Fellows and lifelong advocates for the movement to ensure excellent education for all children
  • Oversee research and development of the competency based selection model
  • Lead team’s approach to training and support of new and experienced Selectors
  • Oversee selection process; review application, conduct interviews and assessment centers
  • To foster and develop a culture of excellence with the team and their work to ensure that all applicants receive a high quality, consistent and fair experience
  • Manage database of applicants and prospective applicants through Salesforce
  • Utilize data to make best decisions
  • Write high-impact external communications (acceptance letter, etc)
  • Support recruitment and matriculation

Interpersonal skills: Relates well to all kinds of people, inside and outside the organisation; builds appropriate rapport; builds constructive and effective relationships; uses diplomacy and tact; can diffuse high-tension situations comfortably.

Influencing Other: Ability to influence and motivate others. Able to develop and deliver presentations for public, primarily for attracting potential Fellows to the program.  

Drive for results: Can be counted on to exceed goals successfully; is constantly and consistently one of the top performers; very bottom-line oriented; steadfastly pushes self and others for results.

Planning: Accurately scopes out length and difficulty of tasks and projects; sets objectives and goals; breaks down work into the process steps; develops schedules and task/people assignments; anticipates and adjusts for problems and roadblocks; measures performance against goals; evaluates results.

Strategic Thinking & Problem Solving: Able to identify, prioritize and proactively anticipate opportunities and problems. Capable to use logic and data to analyse situation, and development high quality, actionable strategies & solutions.

Learning: Ability and willingness to learn continuously to improve self as well as selection process, and the team.

Adaptability: Can cope effectively with changing circumstances and priorities; is not fazed by last minute changes: takes differences and changes in their stride: responds positively to the need to adapt to changes.

Decision Making: Able to use appropriate context, data and information to make sensible and timely decision and display sound judgement when faced with tough situation.

Passion: Feels passionate for the mission and vision of Teach for Nepal and is able to communicate that passion and enthusiasm with others. Believes in the Core Values of Teach For Nepal.

Critical Thinking: Ability to analyse and evaluate in order to form a judgement.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Master degree in any discipline. (Engineering and Science graduates are encouraged to apply)
  • Full time professional Experience of at least two years
  • Experience with young people desirable
  • Strong in both Nepali and English Languages
  • Flexible approach to working hours
  • Pragmatic and Sociable
  • Willing to travel in and outside Nepal if necessary
  • Strong Computer competency
