Residential Psychiatric Nurse

The Executive Search Unit at merojob is actively seeking a dedicated Residential Psychiatric Nurse for one of its clients in the mental health care sector. The role involves providing compassionate and therapeutic nursing care to individuals with chronic mental health conditions, supporting their physical and psychological well-being, and facilitating their rehabilitation and reintegration into families and society. The ideal candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, contribute to quality mental health care services, participate in community outreach initiatives, and support efforts to promote mental health awareness through ethical and patient-centered practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Observe and monitor residents’ mental and physical health through check-ups, diagnostic tests, vital parameters, weight charts, and dietary intake

• Note changes in behaviour, mood, or symptoms and report them to higher medical and psychiatric staff

• Dispense prescribed medications according to schedules and follow-ups, ensuring proper administration by residents

• Assist residents with daily tasks such as grooming, bathing, dressing, and food intake

• Support residents’ mobility and personal hygiene to maintain their physical well-being

• Respond to emergencies or crisis situations calmly and collaborate with healthcare professionals to manage them effectively

• Facilitate therapeutic activities and group sessions in consultation with psychologists, medical, and psychiatric social workers

• Maintain accurate and detailed records of residents’ health, behaviour, responses to treatment, and medications

• Provide information and emotional support to residents and their families regarding mental health conditions, medications, and coping strategies

• Ensure a safe and secure environment for residents including during night duties, while following institutional policies and procedures

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• Graduation from an accredited Nursing program and a valid Registered Nurse license from Nepal Nursing Council

• 1–3 years of experience in Psychiatric or General Nursing

• Experience with Midwifery or Psychiatric Nursing Diploma/Certificate is a plus

• Can communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams

• Able to explain medical procedures in simple, practical terms

• Disciplined, goal-oriented, and consistent in patient care

• Based in Kathmandu and available to work full-time onsite
