Days for Girls Nepal is the Nepal Program Office affiliated with Days for Girls International (DfGI), an award-winning non-profit that has reached more than 3 million women and girls in 145 countries on 6 continents with quality, sustainable menstrual care solutions, and health education. Position Summary:

Reporting to the Nepal Country director, the Nepal Program Officer is responsible for ensuring smooth implementation of high-quality programming (DfG Menstrual Health Education, quality production and distribution of DfG Washable Pad Kits, and MH advocacy) with a focus on DfG’s Social Enterprise Program and grants implementation in Nepal. The Nepal Program director will provide ongoing support, communication and capacity building to all Nepal Social Enterprises. If the Nepal Enterprises succeed, Program Officer succeeds. The Nepal Program Officer will also contribute, where needed and requested, to other aspects of DfG Nepal efforts including admin and advocacy. In all areas, the Program Officer will work to protect the quality and consistency of DfG’s Programs and DfG’s commitment to advancing the importance of locally-led menstrual equity.

Description of Responsibilities:

Programs (30%)
1. Social Enterprises

  • Connect monthly with each Nepal Social Enterprise to celebrate successes, discuss challenges, identify needs for additional capacity building, and share learnings as well as collect each Social Enterprises’ Monthly Impact Report (MIR) data
  • Ensure all MIR data for Nepal Social Enterprises is collected and submitted via the MIR form by the 15th of every month
  • Establish relationships of trust with Social Enterprise Leaders, ensuring smooth operations and problem solving
  • Work to create an inclusive community of support amongst DfG Nepal Social Enterprises. Foster an environment where mutual support can be given and received.
  • Assist Sewing Officer and the DfGI Chapter and Enterprise Programs Team to support Enterprises to get Gold Certified and those due for re-certification to renew their Gold Certification. Assist Sewing Officer submit kit component photos to the global sewing specialist for assessment and validation when needed
  • Coordinate with the DfGI Chapter and Social Enterprise Programs Team and Global Advocacy Director to ensure that the Social Enterprises provide quality menstrual health education and advocacy based on DfG guidelines and policies
  • Support the Social Enterprises to adhere to their country specific legal production requirements.
  • Assign orders of DfG Kits and DfG Menstrual Health Education from the DfGI website to Gold Certified Social Enterprises, that is best fit to meet the need and also ensures equitable distribution of orders between Social Enterprises, over time. Liaise with the DfG Distribution Coordinator to ensure each order is fulfilled and report back on this.
  • Support the Social Enterprises to access and use the resources available in the Enterprise Leadership room. Support the Enterprises to meet all their administrative requirements e.g. signing an up to date licensing agreement when required, login their DfG email, submit a specific required Enterprise data, use the right logo, etc.
  • Ensure timely and accurate responses regarding DfG’s Social Enterprise Program, in a way that shows respect and appreciation for DfG stakeholders.
  • Submit supply chain orders, through the Taro Works system, on behalf of Nepal Social Enterprises when needed.
  • Work with the Nepal Country director and DfGI Chapter and Enterprise Programs Team to establish annual country wide Social Enterprise goals. Regularly communicate shared country goals and progress to Social Enterprises. Ensure data is regularly collected to track progress. Foster a collaborative environment where Social Enterprises feel motivated to work collectively towards this common objective and shared vision.
  • Work closely with the Nepal Country director and DfGI Chapter and Enterprise Programs Team to identify needs and develop and deliver training and capacity building, and as needed to enhance the skills, success and sustainability of Nepal Social Enterprises and ensure that the Nepal Social Enterprise are in compliance with DfG policies and processes (this includes business, sales and marketing skills, advocacy, education, sewing quality etc).
  • Conduct enterprise site visits to enterprise site as needed
  • Assist in the creation of new training materials and tools, as needed
  • Where necessary, be a communication bridge between DfG and other stakeholders by translating between local languages and English
  • Actively participate in Program Department calls. Learn best practices from other countries, and share learnings and successes.

2. Program Development and Implementation (40%)

  • Responsible for oversight and smooth implementation of current and future Projects in Nepal:
  • With the Country Director, responsible for strengthening and expanding DfG in Nepal
  • Develop proposals for projects
  • Set clear objectives, deliverables, timelines, budgets and designation of roles
  • Facilitate and manage day-to-day implementation of project deliverables
  • Deliver DfG programming including teaching puberty and menstrual health education to the community and administering monitoring, learning and evaluation.
  • Design and execute work plans and corresponding budgets to meet the goals and objectives of the project.
  • Ensure project design, implementation, and evaluation are:
      - Responsive to community and partner needs and updates.
      - Aligned with DfGI core values, theory of change, and quality standards.
  • Integrate community-based, capacity-building, and gender sensitive approaches across all activities.
  • Promote and maintain a spirit of equity, respect, transparency, and appreciation with colleagues, partners, and beneficiaries.
  • Problem-solve if/when there are challenges in implementation to ensure all deliverables are met. Identify and implements creative solutions.
  • Track project implementation and support DfG response to changes in context, beneficiary needs, and donor positioning.
  • Collaborate with the Finance director and Country Director to prepare project-based budgets as well as monthly and quarterly financial reports and sending of new funding requests; manage and monitor budget utilization status and ensure funds are deployed according to agreed-upon budgets and in alignment with DfG best practices around authorization, accountability, and reconciliation.
  • Produce accurate and timely updates and reports throughout project life cycles
  • Organize program logistics and communicate with partner organizations, organize transportation, create program agenda, ensure team has all materials necessary to run program;
  • Work closely with the Monitoring, Learning and Evaluation department of DfGI to ensure reliable data and impact reporting on projects. Manage impact database with updated information about distributions and training; assist in the development of new MLE tools and training with the DfGI Impact and LearningAassociate.
  • Ensure all relevant data is collected and recorded in Salesforce or other relevant tool
  • Ensure project activities comply with the policies and regulations of DfG Nepal and any relevant partner organizations.
  • Ensure close collaboration and coordination with cooperating partners to guarantee smooth implementation of activities and achievement of results as specified in project agreements
  • Participate in strategy development conversations with DfGI Global Programs team
  • With Country Director, participate and facilitate partnership development and donor meetings, as needed
  • With Country Director, represent Days for Girls and liaise with local and national authorities, NGOs, and businesses to promote DfG programs, facilitate successful coordination of activities and ensure transparency and accountability to all stakeholders.

3. Advocacy (as needed)

When Country director and/or Global Advocacy Director requests, contribute to advancing DfG Nepal and DfGI’s advocacy related activities including but not limited to representing DfG Nepal and/or DfGI on panels, coalitions, government meetings, and with large partners.

4. Administration (30%)

  • Meet with Nepal Country director weekly
  • Participate in the DfGN’s Bi-monthly staff meeting
  • Contribute content to all DfGN Board reports, interim and final grant reports and the monthly Nepal newsletter in a timely manner
  • Manage DfG Nepal’s social media
  • Lead the development of marketing strategies for DfG enterprises in Nepal region in collaboration with the CD. Manage the creation of materials including but not limited to: posters, marketing materials, and advertisements
  • Assist in the development of promotional documents and materials, i.e. photos, testimonials, video clips, as needed
  • Provide English to Nepali translation as needed/ Nepali typing
  • Assist the Nepal Country Director and Finance Officer with financial compliance items when needed
  • Assist the Nepal Country Director with organization and corporate governance improvements and legal and compliance controls at the Nepal Program Office as needed
  • Work with the Nepal Country Director and DfGI Chapter and Enterprise Programs Team to identify gaps, suggest improvements, and implement effective processes, policies, and systems that streamline program operations
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external regulations, applicable laws, and contractual obligations;
  • Coordinate the development of internal and external reports as needed, including sharing reporting templates, setting deadlines, coordinate input, and final edit and review;
  • Provide timely and adequate input on donor/external reports

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Social Work, Public Health, Community Development, Women and Gender Studies, International development, Social and Behavioral Change, or any related field to SRHR, women development, etc. Master’s degree preferred
  • Proven experience of 3+ years in Program management, Monitoring Learning & Evaluation.
  • Expert project management and cross-cultural communication skills
  • Proven expertise in program and project management
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills
  • Competency in Salesforce, QuickBooks, slack, Canva and G Suite applications (Gmail, Google Docs), Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Written (and typing) and oral fluency in Nepali and English. Additional local language(s) a plus
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time, within Nepal
