Roles and responsibilities of this job
The Procurement Officer will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing procurement activities to ensure timely availability of goods, equipment, medicines, and services required for hospital and academic operations. The role requires adherence to institutional policies, ethical standards, and applicable procurement regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and manage procurement of medical, non-medical, and academic supplies in a cost-effective and timely manner.
Prepare purchase requisitions, requests for quotations (RFQs), bid documents, and purchase orders.
Evaluate bids, negotiate with suppliers, and recommend vendor selection in line with institutional policies.
Maintain accurate procurement records, contracts, and supplier documentation.
Coordinate with user departments to understand requirements and delivery timelines.
Ensure compliance with procurement laws, institutional guidelines, and audit requirements.
Monitor supplier performance and resolve procurement-related issues.
Assist in inventory coordination to avoid shortages or overstocking.
Prepare periodic procurement reports for management review.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Management, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Commerce, or a related field with a minimum of 5 years of relevant procurement experience OR Master’s Degree in a relevant field with appropriate procurement-related experience.
Strong knowledge of procurement processes and vendor management.
Experience in healthcare or educational institution procurement will be an advantage.
Good negotiation, communication, and documentation skills.
Ability to work independently and handle multiple procurement tasks.
Proficiency in MS Office and basic reporting tools.
High level of integrity, transparency, and attention to detail.
