Reports to: Managing Director

Role Purpose:

The People and Culture Manager will lead Maatri Nepal’s human resource and organizational culture functions, ensuring that policies, systems, and practices foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace. This role is responsible for talent acquisition, onboarding, performance management, employee engagement, compliance, and culture-building initiatives. The manager will play a key role in aligning people strategies with organizational goals while nurturing employee well-being, motivation, and professional growth.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Strategic HR Planning & Organizational Development

Develop and implement people strategies aligned with the company’s mission and growth plans.
Review and enhance HR policies, systems, and procedures to ensure fairness, transparency, and compliance.
Support organizational structuring, workforce planning, and succession planning.

2. Talent Acquisition & Onboarding

Lead full-cycle recruitment, including role design, posting, screening, interviewing, and selection.
Ensure a positive candidate experience and smooth onboarding for new hires.
Collaborate with department heads to forecast hiring needs and define job requirements.

3. Performance Management & Growth

Design and manage a structured and transparent performance appraisal system linked to goals and values.
Support managers in setting KPIs and providing constructive feedback.
Identify staff training needs and coordinate learning and development programs.

4. Culture & Employee Engagement

Foster a positive, inclusive, and growth-oriented work culture.
Plan and implement engagement activities, recognition programs, and team-building events.
Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in all people-related practices.

5. Compensation & Benefits

Coordinate payroll, leave management, and benefits administration accurately and confidentially.
Review and recommend compensation structures and incentives to ensure internal equity and market competitiveness.

6. HR Operations & Compliance

Ensure compliance with Nepal’s Labor Act, tax laws, and internal policies.
Effectively manage and operate HRIS, including data entry, reporting, analytics, and system updates.
Address employee relations, grievances, and disciplinary issues with professionalism and confidentiality.

7. Health, Safety & Well-being

Promote employee wellness, mental health awareness, and workplace safety.
Ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive working environment.

8. Leadership & Capacity Building

Mentor and support HR team members to strengthen HR capacity.
Advise senior leadership on organizational culture, employee issues, and change management.

Required qualifications for this job

Required Education Level:Under Graduate (Bachelor)

Required Experience:More than 4 years

Other Specification

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
Minimum 4–6 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in the technology or development sector.
Strong understanding of Nepal’s labor laws, HR policies, and HR best practices.
Experience using HRIS systems for data management, reporting, and HR operations.
Demonstrated ability to manage recruitment, performance systems, and employee relations.

High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical judgment.
