Job Summary

Under supervision from the RG Center manager, in close collaboration with Management and in full respect with the organization core values (CPP and code of behavior), the Night security guard welcomes and  takes care of all children coming to visit or sleep in Night Shelter, providing emergency medical care when needed, and guaranteeing their security and safety throughout the night. This post also looks overall APC Nepal’s Building during the Nighttime. The Responsibility of the guard is to secure the above mentioned buildings, its properties from theft, burglaries’ and damages.

Responsibilities & Duties:

• Filter entries in the Night shelter according to the program rules, preventing adults, drunkards, youths under substance abuse (junkies), gang leaders… to enter.
• Maintain discipline in the center at all time, avoid fighting between children
• Monitor and supervise children during the night, being especially sensitive at protecting the smaller ones against all kinds of abuse from the bigger ones
• Prevent use of any kind of drugs inside the center
• Make sure children sleep separately according to their age
• Guarantee proper use and care of all equipment of the center
• Provide basic and emergency medical treatment when required
• Ensure strict respect of the night routine (tea time, TV time, wake-up time…) fixed with the program manager and the children
• Immediately inform the Program Manager, General Coordinator and/or the local police in case of a situation going out of control.
• In collaboration with relevant Program & Centre Managers of APC, take the responsibility of security of entire building, materials, and equipments. Take care of solar (when ever needed).
• Perform entire body search of drop-in center, transit Home children before entering to the premises and do the same before going out from the premises. If found any weapons, object which is not permitted to the center has to be confiscated immediately and keep in a safe place or submit to the Manager.
• Play the role of Guardian/Parents and treat the children with affection and love. Be ready to resolve any quarrels and disputes arise among the Children sheltered in the Center.
