Position: Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) Assistant 
No. of requirements: 1
Duty Station: Based at BEE-Group Office, Banke, and frequent visits to the project area
Reports to: Project Coordinator
Supervises: N/A

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Project Coordinator, the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) Assistant will improve the quality of the project through improved monitoring and accountability system in all the project areas, collecting, collating, and verifying the information received from project sites in a way that provides a current situation for appropriate programming and evidence of change over time. S/he will assist PC in conducting regular quality monitoring from field implementation, follow up to increase accountability to the beneficiaries and other stakeholders, and track the project’s M&E tool and documentation. 

Key Responsibilities

Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Assist in the collection of data from a field in coordination with the supervisor and enter it into the database as well as ensure proper data entry into monitool within the deadline
  • Assist in the collection of case stories and success stories from the field being compliant with the guidance and compliances 
  • Prepare Output Monitoring Report against project Output Project Indicators and provide information on achievement against the indicators
  • Regular monitoring visits in the project district as per the agreed plan and monitor the quality of interventions against the minimum standards; produce and share high-quality MEAL reports regularly to PC and donor with the standard protocols
  • Work closely with the project team and MdM to achieve delivery of project activities as per the project log frame, theory of change, and detailed implementation plan 
  • Crosscheck and verify output monitoring data and share its findings with the concerned program team
  • Provide support in the field to the program team while conducting data collection for project indicators and project development
  • Support program team in the field while conducting situation analysis study, baseline, midterm, and end-line evaluation

Accountability and Learning

  • Holds self-accountable for making decisions, managing resources efficiently, achieving and role modeling BEE Group’s value
  • Assist PC to lead in conducting/facilitating strategic project reviews and evaluations
  • Provide technical support for conducting mid-term as well as final project evaluations as per the requirement. This includes reviewing evaluation ToRs, developing methodologies, sampling strategy 
  • Promote cross-thematic and cross-projects learning
  • Identify needs of relevant staff and provide on-site coaching to effectively implement the monitoring systems and in documentation of results and impact
  • Orient and support new staff to MEAL requirements of their job
  • Together with program staff, facilitate periodic reviews and reflection workshops for learning and reflection from assessments, program progress monitoring, etc.
  • Collect, document, and share success stories and best practices promoting the shared learning platform

Professional Competencies 

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate communication strategies
  • Plan and execute advocacy campaigns
  • Write, edit, and produce content (letters, press releases, social media posts, reports, speeches).
  • Experience with multimedia production and digital storytelling
  • Familiarity with graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite and content management systems WordPress
  • Competence in using analytics tools to track and report on communication efforts
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion

Qualifications and Experiences

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, development studies, biostatistics, health informatics, or a related field
  • Minimum of 1 year of proven experience in Monitoring & Evaluation, data management, and analysis, with programs related to health/environmental health.
  • Experience in program planning, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Experience as a trainer/mentor is an asset.
  • MS Office packages MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel are mandatory. Technical experience in database management and statistical software (SPSS, Stata, Epi info, etc.)
  • Fluency in Nepali and English
