Job Description

Responsible for the reporting function in the absence of the Assistant Manager Accounts. Therefore the Senior Accountant will have supervisory responsibility as well as operational responsibility within Accounting and Finance Department. Manages financial related activities regarding payments and claims processing and follow-up, accounts receivable, credit and collection within the legal framework of the government rules and regulations and the company policies. Works to maximize cash flow and collection rates, minimizes outstanding accounts receivables.

Key Responsibilities and Accountability includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Establishes, interprets and analyzes complex accounting records of financial statements
  • These may include general accounting, costing or budget data. Examines, analyzes and interprets accounting records for management.
  • Supervises accounting functions and preparation of reports and statistics detailing financial results.
  • Supervises/perform daily cash check-up, maintain cash-books and cash ledgers.
  • Coordinates schedules, activities and reports with other departments for speedy collection.
  • Oversees accounts receivable/payable recordkeeping. Supervises recording of amounts due, verification of invoices, and calculation of discounts.
  • Ensures cash receipts, claims, or unpaid invoices are accounted for properly. Calculates and enters charges for interest, refunds, or related items.
  • Produces various reports for management including accounts receivable/payable register.
  • Preparing monthly bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy and understanding what transactions occurred each period.
  • Overseeing the finalization of books of accounts and Balance Sheet
  • Managing issuance and maintenance of other financial instruments such as letters of credit and related collateral requirements.
  • Supervises computation, documentation and processing of payroll and deductions for employees. Coordinates the preparation and maintaining of disbursements, reports and statistics for government agencies and to ensure its full confidentiality of all salary related information.
  • Completes professional tax accounting activities for an organization. Sets up and retains organization’s tax records. Files tax returns and prepares related reports.
  • To ensure that the computation & filing of VAT& Income Tax Returns of the Company are done on time.
  • Maintaining accurate financial records and preparing clear and accurate reports for informational, auditing and operational use.
  • Handling of statutory and internal audits, liaising with auditors and company executives for informational, auditing and operational use.
  • Preparation of monthly report of the company and give key ratios relevant to company’s health indicators.
  • Anticipate, research and report on changes/amendments in government policies, codes, regulations and ordinances in tax (Income Tax Act, VAT) and general accounting practices.
  • Use personal judgment and initiative to develop effective and constructive solutions to challenges and obstacles in accounting activity and procedures.
  • Ensures organizational compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles within the legal framework of Nepal.
  • Supervisory Responsibility:
  • Is responsible for the supervision of Account Officer for efficient and effective accounting operations and communication of data utilizing standard accounting principles.
