Department: Primary School
Reports To: Primary In-charge / Principal

Position Summary

The Early Years / Grade Teacher - LKG is responsible for creating a nurturing, stimulating, and safe learning environment for young children (ages 3.5 to 5 years). The teacher will design and implement a developmentally appropriate, play-based, and academically engaging curriculum that fosters social-emotional, cognitive, physical, and linguistic growth. The goal is to build a strong foundation for lifelong learning and instill a love for school.

Key Responsibilities

Instructional & Curriculum Development

Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging daily lessons aligned with the school’s curriculum (e.g., play-way, Montessori, or other) for subjects including:

Early Literacy (Phonics, Pre-Reading, Reading Readiness, Storytelling)
Numeracy (Number Sense, Basic Operations, Shapes, Patterns)
Environmental Science / General Awareness
Art & Craft
Music & Movement
Fine and Gross Motor Skills Development

Create a print-rich classroom environment that supports language acquisition.
Use a variety of teaching methods, materials, and resources (manipulatives, visual aids, educational technology) to cater to different learning styles.
Integrate themes, projects, and hands-on activities to make learning concrete and meaningful.

Classroom Management & Environment

Establish and maintain clear, consistent, and positive classroom routines and expectations.
Create a warm, inviting, inclusive, and well-organized physical classroom that encourages exploration and independence.
Foster a classroom culture of respect, kindness, cooperation, and resilience.
Effectively manage student behavior using positive reinforcement and age-appropriate guidance strategies.

Assessment & Reporting

Continuously observe, monitor, and assess each child’s progress and development.
Maintain portfolios of student work and developmental checklists.
Prepare regular progress reports and conduct parent-teacher conferences to discuss student achievement, behavior, and social development.
Use assessment data to inform instruction and provide differentiated support.

Student Welfare & Development

Attend to the basic needs of young children (toileting, feeding, personal hygiene) with care and sensitivity.
Identify signs of emotional, developmental, or health concerns and follow school protocols for referral or intervention.
Actively promote social skills, emotional regulation, conflict resolution, and self-help skills.
Ensure the health, safety, and security of all children at all times.

Communication & Collaboration

Maintain open, regular, and professional communication with parents/guardians through newsletters, diaries, digital platforms, and meetings.
Collaborate effectively with teaching assistants, special educators, and other grade-level teachers.
Participate actively in staff meetings, professional development workshops, and school events.
Work cooperatively with school administrators and support staff.

Job Specification

Required qualifications for this job

Required Education Level:Higher Secondary (+2/A Levels/IB)

Required Experience:More than 1 year

Other Specification

Minimum +2 or equivalent (Montessori or ECCE training preferred).
Experience in pre-primary teaching is an advantage.
Child-friendly attitude, patience, and creativity.
Good communication and classroom management skills.
Proficiency in clear, legible handwriting in both print and cursive styles
Ability to demonstrate proper letter formation and pencil grip techniques
Experience teaching pre-writing and early handwriting skills to children aged 3-5 years

Skills & Competencies

Exceptional patience, energy, creativity, and enthusiasm.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to connect with young children and adults.
Deep understanding of child development milestones for ages 3-5.
Proficiency in using technology as a teaching tool (interactive whiteboards, educational apps).
Excellent organizational, time-management, and multi-tasking abilities.
Empathetic, compassionate, and nurturing disposition.
Ability to work as part of a team.

Working Conditions

Full-time position following the academic calendar.
Classroom-based role requiring constant supervision and interaction.
May require sitting on the floor, bending, and participating in physical activities.
Participation in after-school meetings, training sessions, and school events (e.g., annual day, sports day, parent orientations) is expected.

After two years in function, the Higher Secondary Education Board granted affiliation to run + 2 wing in 2051 B.S. in Science, Management and Humanities streams. Since then it has emerged as a brand for quality education under the name of HOLY VISION SECONDARY SCHOOL (HVSS). When all the private schools were offered the choice to opt either for profit driven company or not-for-profit trust, Holy Vision Secondary School opted to function as a private trust.
