Job Description

Roles and responsibilities of this job

Purpose: Assess patients' nutritional needs, develop and implement nutrition programs and evaluate and report the results.

Responsibilities:

Identify nutrition problems and assess the nutritional status of patients in ICU and wards.
Develop diet plans for the ICU patients and counsel patients on special diet modifications at the IPD/ OPD.
Assess and enhance the health of the patient and providing strategies for prevention of nutrition-related diseases.
Develop meal plans in the OPD and IPD, taking both cost and clients’ preferences into account.
Monitor foods, sanitation and safety standards in the hospital cafeteria.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals to plan or provide treatment by accompanying them in rounds.
Evaluate the effects of meal plans and change the plans as needed
Promote better nutrition by speaking to groups (doctors/nurses) about diet, nutrition, and the relationship between good eating habits and preventing or managing specific diseases.
Keep up with the latest nutritional science research.
Evaluates the diet prescription relative to diagnosis and recommends changes as appropriate.
Write reports to document patient progress in the patient’s chart.

Other Specification

B.Sc. Nutrition and Dietetics.
Minimum 2 years experience in dietetics with exposure in the hospital kitchen as well.
