Job Description

Programme Development

Train and develop confident and skilled Early Years Teachers that will achieve the desired programme outcomes:

  • Deliver focused, interactive and engaging lesson that move away from rote learning.
  • Advance the youngest pupils' social, motor, cognitive and language skills.
  • Improve pupil learning through increased knowledge retention, understanding and application.

Programme Implementation

 

Staff Support and Management

  • Share best practice, challenges and outcomes among the team
  • Keeping abreast of changes to developments and thinking on ECD

 

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Develop strong, trusting and constructive relationships with communities and school staff.
  • Use sustainability/ownership mechanism to gain meaningful participation of community people.
  • Conduct participatory visioning and planning workshops in each school for all key stakeholders.
  • Support the development and deliver parenting education workshops.
  • Form and empower a cluster committee to support implementing project activities and introduce into School Improvement Plan (SIP).
  • Participate all kinds of planning meetings organized by country office.
  • Establish and strengthen better coordination and communication with DEO/RC/RP/Cluster Committees, Schools, SMC/PTAs, CECGs, CCs, DDC, VDCs and other like minded GOs/NGOs/INGOs.
  • Explore the possible resources at local level for the programme and get technical and procedural supports from country office.

 

Teacher Training

  • Facilitate the delivery of the Early Years programme teaching content and adapt where necessary to benefit individual teacher’s needs and abilities.
  • Support the successful development and delivery of a residential teacher training course including model school visit, participant logistics and training resources.
  • Train teachers how to deliver interactive, engaging and resourced lessons.
  • Recognise and reward positive effort and achievements of the teachers.
  • Support facilitators to understand and encourage early childhood development.
  • Facilitate ongoing classroom support through observation, feedback and demonstration.
  • Encourage creative use of free, sustainable local resources and produce example learning tools.
  • Organize different orientation, meetings, workshops, seminars, training to CEY facilitators, primary school teacher.
  • Manage unexpected and unplanned activities appears at the project site.
  • Prepare monthly action plan of the approved project including tailored progress plans for teachers and submit to GAN office along with time sheet.

 

Installation of Resources

  • Develop children friendly classrooms for CEY and primary schools (up to grade 3) by:
    • Managing co-ordination and delivery of furniture and resources to field location.
    • Ensuring classrooms are delivered to the required programme standard.
  • Prepare and display updated graph, charts, diagrams, tables of agreed important information for stakeholders in collaboration with teachers.
  • Completing all outstanding areas on the snagging list within 3 months of installation.

 

Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Conduct needs assessment and baseline survey of the potential area, in a participatory way, with visual documentation.
  • Closely and regularly monitor and provide accurate feedback to each individual teachers.
  • Generate monthly progress report and send to the country office within deadline.
  • Conduct teachers/facilitators clinics in line with the programme modality.  
  • Conduct bi-annually program review meeting with key stakeholders as well as targeted beneficiaries.
  • Maintain documentation of activities performed at the site including facilitator teachers’ progress.
  • Collect success stories along with photos, audio visual materials.
  • Prepare any programme report as per the needs of the organization according to its urgency.
  • Review programme processes and provide feedback and recommendations to the PC with a view to incorporating improvements into the programme.

 

Financial Management:

  • Maintain account keeping and book keeping of the financial records.
  • Plan monthly and quarterly budget and expenses and request the country office for release of funds to district/site office account.
  • Provide quarterly technical and financial reporting with supporting documents.

Other Duties:

  • Fulfill other appropriate level responsibilities as demand of the programme.
