Job Description

Executive Search at Merojob is seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Chief Operating Officer (COO) on behalf of its client, a leading Cement Manufacturing Company. The position is factory-based and responsible for overseeing all aspects of plant operations, ensuring efficiency, quality, and sustainable growth. The COO will oversee the end-to-end operations of the cement manufacturing facility, ensuring high productivity, efficiency, and quality standards. The role requires a strategic yet hands-on leader with a deep understanding of cement production processes, plant operations, supply chain management, and operational excellence. The COO will play a critical role in driving sustainable growth, optimizing costs, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all plant operations including production, maintenance, quality control, logistics, and procurement.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies to achieve production targets, efficiency benchmarks, and cost objectives.
  • Ensure adherence to safety, health, and environmental regulations across all operations.
  • Oversee raw material sourcing, inventory control, and logistics to maintain uninterrupted plant operations.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on process optimization, automation, and cost reduction.
  • Collaborate with finance and commercial teams to align operational goals with business objectives.
  • Establish performance metrics, monitor KPIs, and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop plant management teams to foster a culture of accountability and operational excellence.
  • Manage relationships with regulatory bodies, suppliers, contractors, and other key stakeholders.
  • Support capital projects including capacity expansion, modernization, and technology upgrades.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering; MBA preferred.
  • Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in cement manufacturing or heavy process industries, with at least 5 years in a senior operational leadership role.
  • Proven track record in plant management, production optimization, and large-scale operations leadership.
  • Strong knowledge of cement manufacturing processes, equipment, and maintenance systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive performance improvements.
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong focus on safety, quality, and environmental compliance.
