Key Responsibilities:

The purpose of this position is to provide strategic leadership to World Vision International Nepal’s (WVIN) technical programmes, to ensure World Vision Programs delivers results to impact positively the lives of the most vulnerable children and families. S/He will manage a team of technical experts to ensure the quality of programme design, as well as oversee the expansion of a diversified funding portfolio through the Resource Development Unit. As the leader of the Programmes Department, S/He will provide valuable input in to WVIN’s strategy and objectives.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience required: 

Masters in International Development, or similar area. At least 8 years’ experience of working in international development programming including at least 2 years of working in an implementing country office. The candidate must have experience of applying technical rigor to project designs and have practical experience of applying DME/project cycle management. S/He must have experience with government relations and networking with other international agencies and must be experienced in designing winning grant projects for a range of donors, and managing donor contracts.

Core competencies for the position: 

The candidate must have knowledge of good development approaches including the rights based approach and empowerment approach to development. S/He must have knowledge of the following sectors – education, health, livelihoods, child protection and should be able to design innovative projects as a part of an effective programme. S/he must have knowledge of DME processes/project management cycle and institutional donor requirements, and strong people management skills, with excellent interpersonal skills and an enabling style. S/He should be able to lead and manage a team of nationals and expatriates, and an ability to mentor staff.

*The position requires ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 15% of the time.
