PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

The  “Agriculture Technical Assistant” is responsible for implementing home stead food production activities in intervention areas with technical backstop from the District Agriculture Officer and Cluster Agriculture Coordinator at Kathmandu. S/he works closely with the Agriculture District/Cluster team and Suaahara District team and field supervisors at Solukhumbu district.


Job Description

  • Lead and coordinate HFP component of Suaahara for implementation of activities by Partner Local NGO
  • Develop micro plan of HFP component (poultry distribution, seed distribution, vaccination campaign based on finalized and approved DIP for quality delivery of program in consultation with Field Coordinator, Young Star Club team and District team of Suaahara.
  • Coordinate Field Supervisors and provide necessary technical assistance on HFP for quality outcome of program. 
  • Assist Field Supervisors for regularization and execution of 1000 day mothers monthly meeting and ensure discussion of HFP issues and possible measures. 
  • Regularly visits beneficiaries at VDC level and provides feedback to management regarding challenges faced and possible solutions during project implementation. 
  • Supervise Field Supervisors for implementation and monitoring establishment of improved homestead garden and back yard poultry at household level.  Support Field Supervisors to develop village model farms in community and local resource persons on HFP for reaching new 1000 day mothers of community.
  • Monitor district level HFP performance  on monthly basis against  the district monthly target and compliance to the work-plan. 
  • Assist Young Star Club in establishing linkages between the local agencies like VDC, Agriculture Service Centers, Livestock Service Centers. 
  • Prepare report on HFP component and document relevant cases on progress made by interventions. 
  • Represent and participate meeting related to HFP on behalf of Suaahara District office organized by District Agriculture Development Office, District Livestock Service Office.
