Roles and responsibilities of this job

Department: Finance & Accounts
Reports To: Finance Manager / Accounts Manager / Chief Executive Officer
Location: Lagankhel, Lalitpur (Head Office / Factory)

The Accountant / Cashier is responsible for managing daily cash transactions, maintaining accounting records, handling banking activities, supporting financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with company policies and statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Cash Management

Receive, verify, and record daily cash collections.
Process cash payments and issue receipts.
Maintain and update the cash book on a daily basis.
Manage petty cash transactions and reconciliations.
Conduct daily cash balance verification and reconciliation.

2. Accounting Functions

Record all financial transactions accurately in the accounting system.
Prepare journal entries, payment vouchers, receipt vouchers, and general ledger postings.
Maintain accounts payable and accounts receivable records.
Perform monthly bank reconciliations.
Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.

3. Banking Operations

Prepare bank deposits and coordinate banking transactions.
Handle cheque preparation, issuance, and record maintenance.
Follow up on bank-related matters and maintain proper banking documentation.

4. Billing and Documentation

Prepare invoices, VAT bills, and supporting financial documents.
Maintain proper filing of accounting records, invoices, vouchers, and receipts.
Ensure all financial documents are properly authorized and archived.

5. Tax and Compliance

Maintain records related to VAT, TDS, and other statutory requirements.
Assist in tax filings and compliance activities.
Support internal and external audits by providing required documents and information.
Ensure compliance with company policies and government regulations.

6. Inventory and Cost Support

Coordinate with the store and production departments regarding stock records.
Assist in inventory reconciliation and cost monitoring.
Verify purchase and sales records against supporting documents.

7. Reporting

Prepare daily cash position reports.
Generate periodic financial and management reports as required.
Provide accurate financial information to management for decision-making.

8. Other Duties

Maintain confidentiality of financial information.
Support the finance team in special projects and assignments.
Perform any other duties assigned by management.

Job Specification

Required qualifications for this job

Required Education Level:Under Graduate (Bachelor)

Required Experience:More than 2 years

Other Specification

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Management, or a related field (BBS, BBA, BBM, or equivalent).
Professional accounting qualifications or ongoing studies (CA, ACCA, CMA) will be an added advantage.
Minimum 2 years of experience in accounting, cashiering, or finance-related roles.
Experience in FMCG, dairy, manufacturing, or trading industries preferred.

Skills and Competencies

Proficiency in accounting software such as Busy, ERP, or similar systems.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and email applications.
Basic understanding of VAT, TDS, and Nepalese taxation requirements.
Strong numerical and analytical skills.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
High level of integrity, honesty, and confidentiality.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Daily cash reconciliation accuracy: 100%
Timely recording of financial transactions: 98% or above
Monthly bank reconciliation completed within the deadline
Error rate in accounting entries below 1%
Timely submission of financial reports
Compliance with VAT and tax requirements
Proper maintenance of accounting records and documentation
Zero unexplained cash shortages or excesses
Successful support during internal and external audits
