About the organization
Gramin Samudayik Sanstha (GSS) has 22 years of experience in livelihoods, food security, education, health and nutrition, Disability Inclusive, disaster management, and resilience-building project implementation. Local governments can benefit from GSS’s long time experience in community mobilization. GSS has more than 22 years of experience in community mobilization, therefore strongly believe that community mobilization promotes greater sustainability over the long term than the traditional programmatic interventions that local governments often adhere to for its development activities. Community mobilization draws on the expertise and strengths of community members, resulting in interventions that reduce dependency on outside supports. The project and community collaboration that emerge from community mobilization can limit competition and improves the quality and breadth of services offered without necessarily requiring outside funding for a long time. GSS’ projects through community mobilization has resulted into a shift in social norms in the community, which has enabled the community to approach immediate and long-term food needs and Disaster Management (DM) differently. Further, where GSS has worked, community mobilization has brought about structural changes in community institutions such as health facilities, schools Education, Disability Inclusion, agriculture and food security, etc. and those changes have been sustainable and have been benefitting community with a greater degree.
This year, GSS Mugu, with the financial support of UMN Mugu Cluster conducted various programs focusing on education, food security, Health, disaster management, and disability inclusive in Soru Rural Municipality and four local levels of Mugu District.
