Raleigh International is a youth-driven organization supporting a global movement of young people to take action.

We exist to ignite youth-led action that creates solutions to the world’s most urgent problems. But while young people demand change now, they do not always know how to take action. We support young people by connecting them with the skills, networks, platforms and experiences to lead on the change they demand.

We work globally to promote the role of young people in decision making and civil society, creating meaningful youth employment and enterprise, protecting vulnerable environments, combating climate change, and ensuring the right to safe water and sanitation.

With over 35 years of experience working with over 55,000 young people from more than 100 countries, we’re an ever-evolving organization, constantly adapting to new ideas and challenges.

Raleigh International Nepal (RIN) is a subsidiary of RIUK and has been working in Nepal since 2015. Our Country office is in Khumaltar, Lalitpur Nepal. We promote the role of young people in decision making and civil society, creating meaningful youth employment and enterprise, protecting vulnerable environments, and combating climate change, and ensuring Sustainable livelihood and the right to safe water and sanitation.

Reports to: Country Programme Manager 

Responsible for:  A team of 3 Youth Development Officers

Salary: As per organisational policy

Nature: Post is contractual in nature (6 months probationary period)

Overall Purpose of the Job

The Youth Development Coordinator is responsible for a team that helps recruit national volunteers and team leaders onto its various programmes. This is divided up into some key deliverables:

Skills and Experience:

Essential 

  • Experience in building relationships at a professional level
  • Experience of delivering successful recruitment programmes on a national scale
  • Experience of database management and record keeping  
  • Experience of interpreting database information 
  • Evidence of implementing marketing activity aimed at youth market (17-24 year olds) including e-marketing and social media Experience of personnel supervision / line management 
  • Self-starter with an enthusiastic, positive and flexible attitude
  • Track record in multi-tasking and structuring and prioritising workload to meet deadlines
  • Evidence of ability to work as part of a team
  • Evidence of ability to work without close supervision 
  • Excellent administration skills and attention to detail 
  • Track record in being results-driven and achieving targets
  • IT literacy: good level of competency with spreadsheets, word processing and PowerPoint
  • Innovative approach to problem-solving
  • Commitment to the aims, ethos and culture of Raleigh International 

 Desirable:

  • Understanding of the work of Raleigh
  • Evidence of delivering training to large groups of people
  • Understand the work of Raleigh International 
  • Experience of creating strategic plans 
  • Practical post-qualification experience in a WASH sector setting will give preference. 
  • Ideally would have some cross-cultural work experience.

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 4 years of working experiences in development, (youth development, business development, entrepreneurship and or relevant field)
  • Practical post-qualification experience working with a young people will give preference
  • Ideally would have some cross-cultural work experience

Other Information:

  • The holiday entitlement for full-time staff is 25 working days per year, plus 15 public holidays. The other benefits are: 13th salary and office contribution to Provident Fund, Gratuity, Transport and Communication Allowance and Accidental and Medical Insurance. Eligibility for some of the benefits will be upon completion of probation period and some may be available on a prorated basis depending upon the date of joining.
