Job Description

Mountain Child Care: Making Talent Work

Mountain Child Care is an innovative NGO, that organizes personal leadership programs for youngsters without parents and former street children in the metropolitan areas of Kathmandu and Pokhara. Our goal is to give Nepalese orphans (age 17-23) an experience that will inspire them and prepare them for a future in Nepalese society. Our goal will be achieved when we see these young people actively taking initiatives to prepare for their reintegration into society and, ultimately, when they avoid the poverty trap that the majority of their peers experience. The program consists of three phases: an introduction, a 6-days QuestTreks® in the Himalaya’s and an intensive aftercare program (QuestTribes). The overall program has the duration of 1 year. This 3-step personal development program serves as a means for better reintegration into society after leaving the orphanage/children's home. It aims to close the gap between the youngsters’ home and society. It is funded by Dutch and Nepalese individuals, funds and enterprises. Each QuestTrek® results in a personal development plan, carefully drawn up by every youngster and assisted by a professional staff. It comes with an introduction and after care program (QuestTribes) to ensure that the youngsters can make their talent work.

Aim:

The Youth Coach with specialty in coaching and training adds to creating an open, positive atmosphere in which the youngsters aged 17 to 23 feel encouraged to express themselves. He or she has four major responsibilities: co-conducting the QuestTreks and QuestTribes, Coaching (empowering the youth), Trekking Equipment Logistics and Office management.

Tasks:

  • Constantly giving input for developing & improving of the programmes
  • Co conducting 6-days QuestTreks in Helambu, Gorepani and/or Panchase in April, May, November and December
  • Co-developing individual and group coaching programmes
  • Coaching youngsters in Kathmandu, Pokhara and Surkhet
  • Documentation and administration of coaching sessions of youngsters
  • Preparing materials for the various programmes and office related tasks
  • Supporting the programme manager with NGO related tasks
  • Posting information and updates on social media
