Role overview

Working from home – In this role, you will provide remote support (e.g. from your home) to VSO projects or partners on a part/full time basis for a set period of time. It does not involve on-site work in the project location and/or VSO office.

Diffusion Advisor will be based at VSO office in Kathmandu. The volunteer is responsible for documentation of major interventions on GBVPR II - Pariwartan program and support for diffusion efforts of the program.

Skills, qualifications and experience:

Essential:

  • Technical Expertise – Bachelor’s’ degree (Master’s degree preferred) in mass Communication, Journalism, Rural and social sciences;
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in learning and documentation including report writing, case studies preparation and media engagement.
  • Communication and documentation Skills – exceptionally Strong written and verbal communication skills - able to listen, analyse, present, consult, negotiate with confidence and obtain stakeholder engagement. Able to communicate complex issues effectively to wide range of audiences. Experience of remote and cross-cultural communication, demonstrating sensitivity to cultural and language differences.
  • Learning analysis and time management – Capacity for inquiry, research, logical and analytical thinking, powers of reasoning and critical analysis.
  • Ability to manage competing deadlines amidst analysis and critical assessments.
  • Information Technology Systems – Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel particularly experience in creating and training on the usage of information management e.g. data bases/shared drives
  • Experience of working with volunteers and Commitment to VSO’s work and values

Allowance:

  • In country Funded Allowance as per VSO policy.
  • Accommodation allowance as per VSO policy.

As a VSO volunteer, you will be sharing your skills with local communities on a full time basis. VSO will cover your travel, vaccinations, accommodation, and medical insurance costs, along with a local living allowance which will be paid in local currency. This allowance meets reasonable living expenses in country, but will not be enough to send money home. You will also receive some financial support to contribute to your on-going expenses at home.

Accommodation

VSO works with some of the poorest communities in the world which means accommodation varies and will be basic.
