Roles and responsibilities of this job

The Vice-Principal is responsible for improving the quality of education by ensuring that teachers and students adhere to school policies, procedures, and academic standards. The role supports the School Principal in managing daily academic and administrative operations.

Reporting To: School Principal

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Academic & School Management

Manage the school operations as directed by the School Principal
Maintain a friendly, disciplined, and efficient environment for teachers, students, parents, and visitors
Ensure compliance with school rules and regulations by all stakeholders
Understand and implement the school’s curriculum and academic policies
Ensure consistency between curriculum planning and classroom practice
Supervise teachers and monitor their professional performance
Conduct daily classroom observations and provide feedback
Monitor and review teachers’ lesson plans in line with the annual plan
Collect teachers’ annual plans and ensure their proper execution
Identify areas for improvement for both teachers and students
Review educational materials and provide recommendations

Staff Coordination & Supervision

Manage staff, student, and parent inquiries professionally
Conduct teacher orientation at the beginning of the academic year as advised by the Principal
Orient newly joined teachers during the academic year
Coordinate teacher schedules, classroom arrangements, trainings, exams, dates, and timings
Arrange substitution classes when required
Monitor and document staff leave and attendance records
Ensure teachers submit all required documents necessary for employment
Distribute teaching materials required for academic activities

Student Management & Welfare

Look after students’ welfare inside the classroom
Issue admission slips, tardy slips, and half-day leave slips in alignment with school rules (in the absence of the Principal)
Review test questions prepared by teachers to ensure appropriateness
Plan and support school events and programs
Oversee the organization and execution of audio-visual programs
Conduct school assemblies in the absence of the Principal
Monitor teachers, students, and non-teaching staff

Communication & Coordination

Coordinate meetings, presentations, and information flow to relevant departments or personnel
Act as a liaison between parents, students, teachers, coaches, administrators, and management
Send official notices with prior approval from the School Principal

Internal and External Interaction

Participate in trainings, workshops, and presentations as required by the school
Communicate effectively—both verbally and in writing—with students, parents, colleagues, and management
Serve as a professional role model with high ethical standards
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with all stakeholders
Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits, including meeting deadlines and honoring schedules
Serve as a substitute teacher when required

Administrative Responsibilities

Perform other duties of a similar level as assigned by management
Be available to work on weekends or holidays for school programs, events, or institutional needs

Standards of Performance: The management reserves the authority to conduct regular performance evaluations based on this job description. The evaluation aims to maintain a positive working environment among students, teachers, parents, and non-teaching staff. Any negligence or unsatisfactory performance may result in disciplinary action.

Other Specification

Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Management, or a related field (preferred)
Minimum 5 years of teaching experience, with prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred
Strong knowledge of curriculum design, academic planning, and school administration
