Roles and responsibilities of this job

We are seeking a qualified and dedicated Veterinary Officer to oversee animal health management, provide technical guidance on livestock care, and support project activities related to goat farming and sustainable livestock production. The ideal candidate will have practical knowledge of goat herd management, breeding practices, nutrition, and disease prevention, along with strong communication and coordination skills.

Key Responsibilities

Monitor, track and report animal health and status to project manager regularly
Provide training and coach staff on animal rearing and animal health related issues
Report and liaise with other staff and project manager regarding the deliveries.
Facilitate stall feeding practice, organic manure preparation, quality fodder production and support marketing for meat products.
Regular supervision and monitoring of project activities.

Job Specification

Required qualifications for this job

Required Education Level:Under Graduate (Bachelor)

Required Experience:More than 3 years

Other Specification

Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Science (BVSc) or equivalent qualification.
Registered veterinary professional with relevant experience in livestock management.
Knowledge of goat farming, animal health, breeding, and nutrition.
Experience in disease diagnosis, vaccination, and livestock health management.
Fluent networking and coordination skills.
Good interpersonal skills.

Specialization required: Boer goat herd management, artificial insemination (AI) / cross-breeding, kid mortality management, and nutrition.
