We are rebuilding our training and assessment (T&A) materials so that every unit of competency is fully mapped, fully evidenced and audit ready. This is detailed, methodical documentation work with a compliance backbone. It is not instructional design fluff and it is not content writing.

You will work full time on our T&A materials, reporting to our Compliance Manager. You will be given a unit, the training package requirements from training.gov.au, and the existing materials, and you will be expected to find every gap and close it properly.

The work is ongoing. We have a substantial backlog across multiple qualifications and no shortage of units after that. We are looking for someone who wants to own compliance at an RTO, not someone looking for a document editing job.

What you will do

Map assessment tools against every element, performance criterion, performance evidence, knowledge evidence, foundation skill and assessment condition in a unit of competency, and build the mapping matrix that proves it
Identify where the current materials fail to meet training package requirements, then rewrite or rebuild the affected assessment tools
Design and edit assessment instruments: knowledge questions and benchmark answers, observation checklists, third party reports, project and workplace tasks, and marking guides
Check that assessment tools meet the principles of assessment (validity, reliability, flexibility, fairness) and the rules of evidence (valid, sufficient, authentic, current)
Verify benchmark answers against current Australian sector sources and legislation, not just against what the previous author wrote
Maintain proper version control, document histories and a clean audit trail for every change
Flag risks and non-compliance clearly, in writing, rather than quietly patching over them
Prepare validation and audit documentation to support internal reviews and external regulator visits

What we are looking for

Essential

Two or more years in a documentation, compliance, quality assurance or curriculum role where accuracy actually mattered
Excellent written English. You will be writing documents that an Australian regulator may read
Genuinely forensic attention to detail. Small inconsistencies are the entire risk in this work
Advanced Microsoft Word skills: styles, tables, headers and footers, templates, track changes. Comfortable in Excel
The ability to read a dense standards or regulatory document, understand what it actually requires, and apply it consistently
Self-directed. You will be remote, and you will need to make progress without being chased
Reliable laptop or desktop, stable internet, and a workable plan for load shedding or outages
Highly regarded (tell us if you have it)
Direct experience with Australian RTOs, ASQA, training packages, units of competency or nationally recognised training
Familiarity with the Standards for RTOs (2015 or the Outcome Standards 2025)
Experience building mapping matrices, validation tools or assessment tools for any regulated education provider
Experience with a student management system such as aXcelerate, VETtrak or similar
A TAE40116 or TAE40122 qualification, or equivalent understanding of competency based assessment
Experience leading a review, audit or validation process, or coaching others on quality and accuracy

If you do not have Australian RTO experience but you have strong compliance or regulated documentation experience and you learn fast, apply anyway. We will train the framework. We cannot train care.

Where this role goes

This is a build role first and a leadership role second. The successful applicant will spend the first phase deep in the materials, learning our qualifications, our systems and the Australian standards inside out. As you demonstrate that judgement, the scope grows: leading validation sessions, owning our compliance calendar and internal audit schedule, supporting our trainers and assessors on assessment practice, and preparing us for regulator activity.

Our intention is that the right person steps up into the Compliance Manager role over time, with the current Compliance Manager mentoring the transition. We are being upfront about that because we want applicants who are genuinely aiming at it. There is no fixed timeline and no guarantee. It will be earned on the quality of the work.

Hours and engagement

Full time, independent contractor engagement, ongoing
Working hours are 10:30 am to 7:30 pm Australian Eastern Time, Monday to Friday, so that you overlap with our Australian team
Fully remote from anywhere in Nepal
Remuneration is negotiable and based on experience. Paid monthly in NPR
We already run a remote Nepal based team, so you will not be our first or only offshore team member
