Job Description

NDI-Nepal is seeking candidates for the position of Subgrant Finance Officer for the period of Six months to support the Institute’s Finance Team on Subgrant and Finance related works. The Senior Subgrant Officer works with the Senior Operations and Finance Officer. 

The position is based in NDI Office in Kathmandu.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review of budget, budget note and other relevant documents in order to process for the approval of sub-recipient award or close out;
  • Monitor and track monthly sub-grant’s budget;
  • Receive, store and review Subgrantees’ financial report packages. Review receipts for allowability and appropriateness of expenses reported, and record expenses as per NDI policy;
  • Communicate with subgrantees regarding the results of the reviews. Follow up proactively and timely on resolution of questioned costs, return of unspent funds;
  • Send reminders and ensure timely submission of subgrants reports to NDI;
  • Review, process and route Subgrantees’ payment requests for management approval.
  • Support Senior Operations & Finance Officer on NDI Nepal’s monthly financial reconciliation and payment process to vendors;
  • Support with other duties as assigned by supervisor and head of department.
  • Candidate is to work mostly work from home.

Academic qualification and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; major in Accounting, Finance or Business Management & Administration , MBA with Finance preferred.
  • Minimum three (3) years of work experience in accounting or grant management field.

Required skills and abilities:

  • Excellent English and Nepali speaking and writing skills are required; 
  • Capacity to work both independently and as a member of a team;
  • Sound knowledge on  USAID OMB circular
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs, particularly MS Excel
  • Experience with Google Apps (Gmail, Calendar, Google Drive, G+, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of basic budget and accounting procedures; knowledge of financial
  • reconciliation;
  • High level of attention to details and accuracy in all aspects of work responsibilities and excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, good analytical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively interact with all levels of staff and subgrantees; positive and professional attitude.
  • Ability to use effective strategies and tactics for accomplishing assigned duties, meet deadlines.
