Swayam Gyan Adhyan Sanstha (Rangjung Yeshe Institute [RYI]) is an institution of higher  learning in Boudhanath for those wishing to deepen their understanding of Buddhist philosophy  and practice. RYI has been conducting seminars and study programs for more than 25 years.  Since 2001, the Institute has worked in close partnership with Kathmandu University to manage  the Kathmandu University Centre for Buddhist Studies at RYI which offers undergraduate and  post-graduate degree courses in Buddhist Studies and related topics.

Position: Student Services Manager 
Duration: 1 year (with possibility of extension) 
Duty Station: Boudhanath, Kathmandu 
Reports to: Language Studies Department Head 

Position Description: 

The Student Services Manager is responsible for RYI’s Student  Services. Student Services provides students with information, guidance, and support needed to ensure that their time spent studying at RYI (and in Nepal) is rewarding and successful at both  academic and personal levels. Broadly speaking, Student Services works to ensure that  students have the wellbeing necessary for academic success and life in Nepal. 

The main areas of responsibility entails: 

  • Orientation Programs and In-Semester Social Events 
  • Student Counseling, Conflict Resolution, and Referral Services 
  • Student Information 
  • Student Advisor Program 
  • Student Society  
  • Policies 
  • Visas 
  • Line Manager of the Student Services Officer 
  • Member of the Student Services team 
  • Any other task as reasonably requested by the organization

Qualifications and Experience: 

Required: 

  • Educated to degree level 
  • Qualifications in Student Support or related fields such as Education, Counselling, Social  Work, etc. 
  • Experience working with adults and students 
  • Experience delivering high quality customer service, with strong understanding of how to  respond to differing needs 
  • Familiar with Nepal 
  • Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds 
  • Experience in developing and giving presentations to a large audience. 
  • Must obtain Nepali PAN ID 

Desirable: 

  • Work experience in an educational institution 
  • First Aid Training/Certificate 
  • Familiar with Rangjung Yeshe Institute, Ka-Nying Shedrub Ling monastery & Boudha
