Job Summary

The Storekeeper / Accountant is a dual-function role primarily responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, accounting documentation, and transaction processing, while also ensuring effective control and management of project inventory and store operations. The role plays a critical part in ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and transparent material tracking within hydropower project operations. It requires close coordination with finance, procurement, and site/project teams to ensure disciplined financial reporting and efficient inventory control in a dynamic infrastructure project environment.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Finance Responsibilities

Maintain complete and accurate financial records, including ledgers, journals, vouchers, and supporting documentation
Record daily financial transactions in accounting systems with accuracy and timeliness
Prepare and process invoices, payment vouchers, receipts, and expense statements
Support accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely reconciliation and follow-up
Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
Manage petty cash transactions and maintain proper cash book records
Perform bank reconciliation and ensure alignment between book and bank balances
Ensure adherence to internal financial policies, procedures, and audit requirements
Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for billing verification, payment processing, and dispute resolution
Support tax-related documentation and statutory compliance activities as required

Store & Inventory Responsibilities

Maintain updated inventory records for materials, tools, equipment, and consumables used in hydropower projects
Monitor stock levels, track material movement, and ensure timely replenishment
Verify incoming materials against purchase orders, delivery notes, and quality documentation
Ensure proper documentation of all inward and outward material transactions
Coordinate with procurement and project teams to assess and fulfill material requirements
Conduct regular stock verification and assist in physical inventory audits and reconciliation
Maintain systematic storage, labeling, and organization of materials at store/site locations
Ensure inventory records are accurately maintained in both manual and system-based formats

Required Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Management, or a related discipline
Prior experience in accounting, finance operations, or store/inventory management
Experience in hydropower, construction, engineering, or infrastructure projects preferred
Familiarity with accounting software and strong proficiency in MS Excel
Exposure to project-based or site-based working environments will be an advantage

Required Skills & Competencies

Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial documentation practices
Inventory management and stock control capability
High level of numerical accuracy and attention to detail
Strong organizational and record-keeping skills
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a project-driven environment
Good communication and coordination skills with internal teams and external vendors
Knowledge of financial compliance, audit processes, and documentation standards
Problem-solving mindset with operational discipline

Must adhere to company safety, financial control, and compliance policies at all times
