  • Confident to communicate in written and spoken English.
  • Motivated, innovative and ready to take responsibility and initiative in your work.
  • Able to break down development tasks and estimate them.
  • Focused on writing reusable, reliable and readable code.
  • You have knowledge and experience with:
  1. Formal software design (e.g. Patterns, UML, MS Visio, ...)
  2. Database design and programming (e.g. Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server, ...)
  3. Software Configuration Management (e.g. CVS, SVN, VSS, ...)
  4. Planning and performing Code Reviews
  5. Unit Testing
Background in any of the following is a bonus:

  • Agile SDLC methodologies (e.g. Scrum, DSDM, eXtreme Programming)
  • XML parsing, generation, schemas, DTDs,
  • Programming with Web Services,
  • Enterprise Service Bus (ESB),
  • JavaScript and Ajax,
  • .NET (VB.NET, ASP.NET, etc).
  • Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001, CMMi, etc).

Job Description

Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Work cooperatively in a project-focused development team.
  • Take the technical lead in your projects, including responsibility for other team members.
  • Analyse requirements, and create software/database designs using formal methods.
  • Assist Project Management in planning and estimation.
  • Programming using Progress 4GL, ABL and X/E files.
  • Database development with Progress Database.
  • Software testing.
  • Plan and conduct code reviews.
  • Mentor your colleagues in software development best practices.
