Roles and responsibilities of this job

The Senior Plant Operator will be responsible for overseeing and managing the overall operation of the hydropower plant. The role includes monitoring plant performance, ensuring safety and compliance, coordinating with the operations team, and taking corrective measures to achieve optimal power generation.

Key Responsibilities

Operate and monitor hydropower plant equipment and systems to ensure continuous, safe, and efficient generation of electricity.
Conduct routine inspections of turbines, generators, transformers, switchgear, and auxiliary systems.
Supervise and guide plant operators and technicians to maintain smooth operations.
Identify operational issues, troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, and implement corrective measures.
Maintain operational logs, reports, and records in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
Coordinate with maintenance teams for preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and operational protocols.
Assist in planning and scheduling operational activities to meet generation targets.
Support emergency response and plant shutdown/start-up procedures as required.

Required qualifications for this job

Required Education Level:Diploma Certificate

Required Experience:More than 3 years

Other Specification

Diploma in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in hydropower plant operations.
Strong technical knowledge of hydroelectric generation systems and electrical equipment.
Proven ability to handle plant operations independently with minimal supervision.
Knowledge of safety protocols and regulatory compliance in the energy sector.
Good problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
Ability to work in shifts and respond promptly to emergencies.
