We are looking for a responsible and practical Plant Manager / Mechanical Engineer to manage mechanical equipment, machinery, spare parts, and site-level technical coordination for a hydropower project currently under construction.
The role involves handling construction machinery, coordinating repair and maintenance, sourcing required parts, managing mechanics and operators, and ensuring that equipment downtime is reduced as much as possible. The ideal candidate should be hands-on, organized, technically strong, and able to work under site conditions.
Key Responsibilities
Machinery & Equipment Management
- Manage all site machinery and mechanical equipment used in hydropower construction.
- Monitor the condition, usage, and performance of equipment such as excavators, loaders, compressors, generators, pumps, vehicles, and other construction machinery.
- Plan preventive maintenance schedules to reduce breakdowns.
- Coordinate daily equipment allocation with site engineers and construction teams.
- Keep records of machine usage, fuel consumption, repairs, breakdowns, and maintenance history.
Mechanics & Workshop Supervision
- Supervise mechanics, helpers, operators, welders, and workshop staff.
- Assign daily tasks to the mechanical team.
- Ensure proper repair work is carried out on time and safely.
- Check the quality of repair and maintenance work.
- Train and guide junior mechanics where needed.
Spare Parts & Procurement
- Identify required spare parts, tools, lubricants, consumables, and mechanical materials.
- Source machine parts from local and external suppliers.
- Compare prices, quality, and delivery time before purchasing.
- Maintain coordination with vendors, suppliers, and transporters.
- Ensure critical spare parts are stocked to avoid long delays at site.
- Prepare purchase requests and follow up until delivery.
Site Coordination
- Coordinate with project managers, civil engineers, tunnel engineers, and procurement teams.
- Respond quickly to machinery breakdowns affecting site progress.
- Ensure equipment is available according to project requirements.
- Support planning of equipment needs for tunnels, roads, powerhouse, headworks, and other project areas.
- Report equipment issues, delays, and urgent requirements to management.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure safe operation and maintenance of machinery.
- Make sure operators and mechanics follow safety procedures.
- Inspect equipment for safety risks before use.
- Maintain proper storage of fuel, oil, tools, and spare parts.
- Help prevent accidents caused by poor machinery condition or unsafe repair work.
