Background of Project

Despite around 48% of LMICs having policies and operations addressing Early Childhood Development (ECD) and PPE (Pre-primary Education), there is a substantial gap in service provision and evidence-based, feasible programmatic approaches, especially inclusive of children with disabilities and marginalized children. Based on the preliminary data analysis, the school readiness intervention compared to Standard Care in Nepal focused on total school readiness scores. Both the Standard Care and intervention groups showed substantial improvements, indicating that the interventions had a positive overall impact. Acknowledging the complexity of school readiness and the smooth transition into primary education in LMICs from home and PPE, an intersecting model is proposed emphasizing the tri-directional readiness of parents, children, and school. To provide a holistic view, this programme will include different groups in the scaling pathways considering four interconnected dimensions: children, family, community, and school.
