School Construction Coordinator-1 Position

Purpose: The position holder will be responsible for day to day monitoring and supervision of the school construction works at different construction sites. S/he will work closely with construction team at sites for providing technical support, capacity building, coordination and reporting.

 

Terms and Location: Fixed term employment till 30 Sep 2018 based at Country Office, Lalitpur.

 

Required Qualifications and Experiences:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working in infrastructure development sector preferably in community based school construction projects
  • Experience of quality assurance and construction management
  • Experience working in post-disaster setting desirable
  • Experience in reporting and documentation of construction works
  • Member of Nepal Engineering Council
  • INGO work experience preferred

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Day to day monitoring of school construction works at construction site following the approved design and specification
  • Provide technical support and build capacity of the team on construction management and quality construction works
  • Ensure quality of the construction and project activities as per the applicable national/international standards and practices
  • Hold meetings with the Construction team at Site. This involves Site Engineer/ Sub-Engineer, SMCs and, where applicable, with the assigned contractor assigned for the work, in a regular intervals to discuss progress, plans and quality of works, and resolve any pertaining problem
  • Ensure proper documentation and reporting of the construction process and progress (including all budgetary and financial matters pertaining to the work) to the agencies’ technical team. This should also include proper documentation of the steps taken to ensure quality of construction material and work
  • Review of running bills and measurement book for liquidation of advances
