Foundation for Development Management (FDM) (www.fdm.com.np) is a private limited company registered under the Company Act of Government of Nepal in 2000 as a development support organization. Over its past two decades of operation, FDM has conducted a number of assignments pertaining to Research, Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) and Institutional Development. Having served over 35 national and international clients comprising of government, non–government and donor organizations, FDM primarily works under the thematic areas of education, health, governance, child rights, DRR and GESI. FDM is based in Kathmandu, Nepal and has 15 full-time program staff, over 100 consultants and pool of enumerators spread over 67 districts. In its two decades of operation, it has successfully completed more than 100 M&E and research assignments.

Job Description

Position: Research/MEL Associate – 1 position
Type: Entry Level Full-time (6 months with possible extension)
Location: Kathmandu with frequent travel to the field 

Roles and Responsibilities: 

  • Assist in monitoring and evaluating the projects being implemented by FDM.
  • Assist in the planning/finalizing of evaluation approach for projects.
  • Visit the field to undertake Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) and Key Informant Interviews (KIIs).
  • Draft evaluation reports with support from Team Leader and Sectoral Experts.
  • Ensure quality of the projects led under the supervision of the Team Leader.

Skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelors in Social Work, Rural Development, Development Studies, Sociology, Gender, and Development Studies or Public Policy.
  • A minimum of one year of experience having worked in research or M&E projects.
  • Ability to design sampling approach, analyze and interpret statistical data as well as draft reports.
  • Good command over analytical software including SPSS/Excel.
