Global Action Nepal is dynamic social organization which has been working exclusively in Nepal for more than two decades to help improving the quality of life of marginalized people in Nepal engaging stakeholders meaningfully for quality education, equity, human rights and lifelong learning. GAN is implementing Civil Society Participation in Education (COPE) Project, funded by the European Commission, implement through a consortium led by National Campaign for Education Nepal in partnership with GAN, Nepal Disabled Women Association. The main objective of this project is to unite various stakeholders in addressing issues related to accountability and governance within the education sector. The project is to be implemented in Dhanusha, Siraha and Rautahat districts of Madesh province and Dailekh, Kalikot, Surkhet districts of Karnali province.

Thus, GAN is seeking for pro-active, qualified, self-motivated, dedicated and outcome oriented Project Officer under COPE project.

Project Overview: 

Based on the success of phase one, the Girls’ Education Challenge Transition Window has expanded its support to beneficiaries to continue this journey in education. The Sisters for Sisters’ Education II project begun in April 2017. 

Through improved access to quality education along the education continuum, Sisters for Sisters’ Education (SfSE II) envisions that marginalized adolescent girls from four districts in rural Nepal– Surkhet, Parsa, Dhading and Lamjung – will transition from basic to secondary education, and secondary to upper secondary, empowered to leave school to either secure a sustainable livelihood or continue with education. They will be equipped with skills, bolstered by strong learning outcomes that improve employability, enhance confidence and self-esteem to act as leaders, and enable them to influence and control their own sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR). 

People to people interventions in phase two include big sister-little sister mentoring, peer learning support, staff accompaniment and coaching for teacher and District and local level  Education units , and community engagement through a wide variety of volunteering roles and expertise sharing from implementing partners and resource partners.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Project planning, implementation, coordination with multi-partners collaboration, reporting and support, project monitoring and support on quality delivery, staffs mobilization, staffs capacity and performance management, documentation and organization of information, liaison with partner organization etc. 
  • Lead in finance management: Plan budget for impending activities and communicate with a partner for accuracy and timely release, financial management, formulation budget and disbursement, maintain a record of program, maintain record of programme expenses etc. 
  • Monitoring and Evaluation: Ensure data management system , track all the project related data, take lead in data collection, compilation and monitoring activities as required and facilitated activities against targeted plans. Lead internal midterm and annual evaluation of the project. 
  • Other support: Create a self-support system within the project areas and project team, establish and promote better coordination and linkage with likeminded organization, and stakeholders, international volunteer management and fulfil other appropriate level responsibilities as demand of the project.  

Skills and qualification:

  • Batchelor’s Degree in social science, rural development or any other discipline with at least 3 year relevant experience
  • Excellent communication skills including ability to communicate effectively in both English and Nepali Language in written and spoken
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft word, excel, power point, email and internet, demonstration of excellent team working and relationship building skills, able to travel frequently and spend time away from based and home
  • Familiarity with current development practices, policies and organization in Nepal
