Jagaran Media Center (JMC) is a non-governmental organization established in 2000, has been advocating for eliminating caste and gender based discrimination, and creating a more equitable, inclusive society through media mobilization.

JMC in support with IM Swedish Development partner, has been implementing "Promoting Gender Equality and Social Inclusion through Media Mobilization and Civil Society Engagement" project. Also, this project is the continuation of the incessant advocacy effort of this rights-based media mobilization. Having entered into this cooperation, the organization not only expedites its ongoing effort, but embraces economic rights on board its media campaign.  For this, JMC invites the application from experienced and qualified individuals for the following position.

  • Masters degree in social science preferably Mass Journalism and Mass Communication.
  • Minimum 8 years of experiences on project designing and management.
  • Experience in designing and implementing projects on Dalit Rights, Media, Human rights, Gender and Social Inclusion etc.
  • Strong understanding of media fertility and media rights advocacy campaigns in Nepal.
  • Experiences on project designing, planning, implementation and monitoring.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills on project management.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Nepali language.
  • Strong commitment against Gender, caste and any kinds of discrimination.
  • Knowledge on Dalit movement in Nepal, Dalit issues, and its cross-cutting issues.

Job Description

  • ​Manage and implement existing projects of the organization. 
  • Supervise guidance and monitoring overall activities of the organization. 
  • Generate creative and project ideas on Dalit and media, inclusive democracy, Dalit human rights, and concurrent issues. 
  • Prepare and finalize online and offline contents of the organization including internal website, bulletin and other publications, radio programme, television program, documentary and drams etc. 
  • Generate concept notes, project proposals along with logical framework on the key working areas of the organization.
  • Write quarterly and final reports of the projects demonstrating the result-framework. 
  • Guide, supervise and monitor each and every activities including finance and accounting system of the organization. 
  • Build a strong team-work within the organization along with the board and staffs, support on enhancing capacity. 
  • Support to build strong organization through enhancing capacity of staffs, monitoring and evaluation of the staff performance and motivate colleagues to achieve the goal of the organization. 
  • Establish effective networking with the stakeholders including NGOs, INGOs, media institutions, media advocacy groups, civil society organizations, and concern state and non-state actors. 
  • Undertake all other tasks project designing and fund-raising etc. given by the management committee of the organization.
