About the organization
Integrated Development Society Nepal (IDS –Nepal) is a national non-profit, non-governmental development organization focused on development projects in the area of WASH & Community Infrastructure, Climate Change & Disaster Risk Management, Natural Resource Management & Agriculture and Sustainable Livelihood, Enterprise & Social Development. The organization is managed by its executive board with well-defined organizational setup, working guideline and staffs regulation. Moreover, the organization has transparent financial transaction system and service oriented policy with innovating idea for community development. It is guided by the philosophy to fit technology rather than the other way around receiving projects by bidding to partner with different international, national and government clients on different sectors. The projects and programmes it conducts are integrated, at different levels (community, district and national), and phases (project designing, planning, development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation) and in all assignments gender, social inclusion and capacity enhancement is integral component.
IDS-Nepal currently running on its twenty one year, continues to grow as an organization with each passing year. It works by forming, institutionalizing, capacity enhancement of community based organizations (CBO's) ensuring extensive community mobilization and peoples participation. Therefore it has to be very knowledgeable of best development approaches and practices, therefore capacity enhancement and gender mainstreaming is highly prioritized. The concept of demand-driven community–based approach for the delivery of infrastructure like rural roads has been well understood and practiced by the personals of IDS Nepal and they are well familiar with the objective and sprit of the proposed project.
To build for its main objective of uplifting the life of disadvantaged, marginalized and underprivileged people it intervenes by conceptualizing, formalizing and facilitating implementation of community managed development projects through their active participation in every step of project cycle. It focuses on their capacity building and their ownership of development process. IDS-Nepal’s personnel have firsthand experience in working with diverse and ethnic groups under varying geographical conditions.
