Scope of the position: 

Under the direction of the Country Coordinator, the Project Coordinator will be responsible for the overall design, coordination and implementation of Help’s activities to ensure timely, effective and high quality program implementation in compliance with the organization principles, donor requirementsand country regulations.

Main Responsibilities / Duties:

  • In close coordination with the Country Coordinator, supervise and coordinate operations ensuringthat program activities are planned and implemented effectively and efficiently addressing the needs of the communities
  • Provide operational program management in line with Help’s policies, procedures and guidelines ensuring quality and transparency
  • Support the Country Coordinator and partner agencies in preparing project documents, project planning, budgets, problem tree, logical frameworks, costs estimates and work schedules
  • Organise and coordinate support for project teams and partner agencies in the fulfilment of their duties according to project design and agreed implementation approaches
  • Monitor the work of partner agencies and provide support in execution of rehabilitation, WASH, DRR and livelihoods activities
  • Regularly review the program against its strategic objectives and initial design and conduct regularly monitoring visits to program locations
  • Ensure that monthly activity reports, partner reports and donor reports as stated in agreements and contracts are timely compiled and finalized
  • Represent Helpat central and district level as needed and develop/enhance key networking and partnership with relevant actors
  • Liaise with relevant Government, local authorities, community leaders, humanitarian agencies, CBOs, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure proper and timely coordination and execution of planned activities
  • Maintain regular communication with the field, partner agencies and ensure that relevant information is fed into the project teams and to the Country Coordinator
  • Ensure proper HR management of the team placed under his/her responsibility: setting objectives, monitoring performances, building capacities and conducting regular appraisals
  • Handle administrative, financial, logistical issues in compliance with organization’s rules and regulations
  • Monitor the work of partner agencies, assess the capacities and provide support when needed Participate in relevant cluster meetings or other relevant technical groups at central level
  • Coordinates day-to day activities
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Degree preferred) in a relevant field
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in programme management using project cycle management methodology (PCM) and tools
  • At least 2 years working experience with INGOs, UN or international donors
  • Knowledge ofat least two of the following sectors is an asset: construction/engineering, WASH, DRR, institutional development and livelihoods
  • Experience in designing M&E systems, tools, quality data collection and analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to work in partnership with local communities and NGOs
  • Provenstaff management expertise
  • Excellent analytical, communication and negotiation skills
  • Problem solving/initiative - must be able to find appropriate solutions to identified problems and initiate action to respond to needs
  • Strong English writing skills and proven ability to develop proposals and write reports
  • Advanced computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook). Knowledge on MS-Project is an asset
  • Capacity and keen interest to undertake capacity building activities for partner agencies and communities
