Job Description

Reporting to: PEAK DMC Nepal/Himalayan Encounters Operations Manager
Location: Pokhara, Nepal

POSITION PURPOSE:
The Pokhara Ground Manager will oversee the on-the-ground organisation of trips across the region and be responsible for the Operations and Sales for PEAK DMC trips.  Based in Pokhara, the Ground Manager plays a crucial role in the communication between the Kathmandu office and the leaders, assistant guides, porters, local operators and suppliers in the region.  

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Extensive travel experience and a passion for the region
  • Experience working as a Group Leader for an adventure travel company
  • People management and administration experience
  • Ability to manage crises and take responsibility for the safety of others
  • Nepali and English spoken and written fluency

OTHER SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:

  • A knowledge of the style of travel, operating systems and trips of PEAK brands
  • The ability to work with a diverse group of leaders, assistant guides and porters.
  • Ability to handle a multitude of tasks that may be on the go at the one time
  • A willingness to work flexible hours
  • A capacity to make decisions independently
  • Outstanding organisational skills
  • An understanding of and commitment to customer satisfaction
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Willingness to travel as requested
  • Be on call via mobile phone during out of office hours
  • Alignment and fit with company values
  • Ability to prioritise work and handle pressure

  • Leader performance and support
  • Management of Assistant Guides and Porters
  • Management of regional accounts
  • Management of passenger complaints and feedback
  • Monitoring and auditing of health and safety  
  • Management of Equipment Storeroom
  • Day-to-day sales from Local Sales Desks
  • Ensure quality of suppliers and maintain good supplier relationship
