Deloitte is seeking qualified Senior Level candidates for the multi-year USAID Trade and Competitiveness (Udhyam Nepal) to fill the role of Objective 2 Lead. Deloitte Consulting is the implementing partner for the USAID-funded Nepal Trade and Competitiveness Activity (Udhyam Nepal) based in Kathmandu. This position is under Deloitte Consulting Overseas Projects LLC. The purpose of Nepal Trade and Competitiveness Activity is to increase Nepali private sector participation in targeted global value chains. This is a five-year program; however, the position is currently for one year with opportunity for renewal.  This full-time position is based in Kathmandu.

Objective 2 Lead Description: 

The component Lead is responsible for the implementation of the technical work under his/her component.  It is his/her responsibility to guide and/or redirect the focus of individual tasks of the activity to achieve the results in response to rapidly changing conditions or opportunities. She/he reports directly to the Chief of Party is responsible for establishing and maintaining constructive working relationships with stakeholders spanning the public sector, private sector, and civil society in Nepal and with other development partners and USAID implementers. The Objective 2 lead should have a depth of knowledge and experience working in Agriculture, Tourism, and/or Digital Services value chains. Along with overall Objective 2 leadership, this position will lead the Agriculture Value Chain productivity enhancement activities. 

Responsibilities Include:

• Provide overall project leadership, management oversight, and technical direction
• Reside in Kathmandu, Nepal and serve as the key liaison with government counterparts, and local partners
• Manage and supervise the work of project personnel, consultants, and subcontractors, including technical implementation, finance, administration, training, and donor relations
• Design and lead technical activities and deliverables
• Ensure that all project assistance is technically sound and appropriate
• Lead implementation of the strategic, long-term programmatic vision of the project
• Oversee project work planning, performance management, and strategic communications
• Manage risks of project implementation and implement risk mitigation techniques

Component Lead Qualifications:

• Minimum of 10 years of private sector development experience with technical competency in providing firm-level assistance (most desirable), workforce development, macroeconomic policy, or business enabling environment
• Project director or component lead experience on USAID or other donor funded projects of similar size and scope ($15 million or more) desired
• Deep expertise in Agriculture, Tourism, and/or Digital Services value chains in Nepal
• Deep expertise in market-based SME development, trade and investment initiatives, investment promotion or other relevant topic required
• Master’s degree in a related field
• Industry knowledge and experience in one or more of the following: food processing or other agri-business, transport and logistics, tourism, textiles, manufacturing, information and communication technology, and professional services
