Job Description

NDI-Nepal is currently seeking candidates for a Monitoring and Evaluation Associate position based in Kathmandu. The role involves working closely under the guidance of the Senior M&E Officer to support monitoring, evaluation, and learning activities, including data collection and analysis. This position is contingent upon funding availability.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Take the lead in collecting both qualitative and quantitative data from events, sub-grantees, NDI’s research, and assessments, in coordination with the program team and under the guidance of the immediate supervisor;
  • Take the lead responsibility in entering data into NDI’s investment datasheet, and support the immediate supervisor in data and information management on the DEV Results platform, Development Information Solutions System, Performance Indicator Tracking Table, and Performance Management Plan;
  • Prepare data for periodic program reports and track key performance indicators for each component;
  • Verify and validate collected data to ensure accuracy, remove duplication and ensure reliability of NDI’s programs data;
  • Support the NDI Nepal M&E unit in tracking the performance of NDI’s programs according to the MEL plan through off-site performance tracking methods and tools;
  • Support the NDI Nepal M&E unit in monitoring the performance of NDI’s Nepal programs, and facilitate evaluation sessions to assess program efficiency, effectiveness, impact, and sustainability through on-site monitoring and evaluation;
  • Support to carry out quarterly review and reflection sessions to capture learning of the programs;
  • Assist in conducting the program’s baseline, mid-term, outcome and impact assessment by working as part of a team to design assessment methods, collect and analyze data, and establish baselines, and targets for the program’s activity, output, outcome, and impact indicators;
  • Support in developing and maintaining a uniform, systematic and consistent data collection and reporting methodology and schedule;
  • Provide support for periodic strengthening of NDI’s database management system, including approaches, methods, tools and instruments;
  • Conduct periodic field visits to NDI’s projects sites to ensure data collection is performed accurately, systematically, and ethically;
  • Support the formulation of assessments and research instruments as needed by the program teams to establish baseline and track the programs performance; and
  • Additional responsibility based on demonstrated ability and/or program needs.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, statistics, or a related field;

Desirable:

  • Master’s degree in social sciences, and statistics;
  • Minimum of one year of experience in Monitoring, evaluation and database management with I/NGO; and
  • Experience with designing and using monitoring and evaluation instruments, such as monitoring matrix, result framework, indicators, and data collection tools and methods is an advantage.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Essential:

  • Basic knowledge and experience in project management, database management and M&E;
  • Ability to analyze and resolve problems;
  • Excellent communications skills to present information and respond to questions;
  • Detail-oriented;
  • Exceptional writing skills to write reports;
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, progressive thinking, and manage diverse activities;
  • Ability to multitask and manage time;
  • Willingness to work longer hours, when required;
  • Strong working knowledge of PC-based word processing and spreadsheet applications and experience with Google Apps (Gmail, Calendar, Google Drive, G+, etc.);
  • English and Nepali language fluency required

Desirable:

  • Experience in supporting USAID or foreign-funded development programs;
  • Strong knowledge of statistical methods, tools and techniques
