Overview

The Nepal Accounting Standards (NAS) for Micro Entities (MEs) standards were initially approved by the Accounting Standards Board, Nepal, in 2075, and announced by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal (ICAN) to be effective from 1st Shrawan 2078. However, ICAN later extended the mandatory effective date to 1st Shrawan 2080, making NAS for MEs applicable from the fiscal year 2023-24 (i.e., FY 2080-81).


The Nepal Financial Reporting Standard for Small and Medium Entities (NFRS for SMEs) includes many complex requirements that may not be applicable to micro entities, as these entities typically deal with a limited range of transactions compared to those covered by NFRS.
