Role Summary
The MICE Specialist will spearhead the execution of the MICE Tourism Project, managing initiatives to establish Nepal as a premier MICE destination. The ideal candidate will lead strategy development, oversee project implementation, and foster collaborations with key stakeholders to achieve measurable outcomes in economic growth, international visibility, and local capacity building.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning and Management
- Develop and implement marketing strategies to position key destinations in Nepal to international customers as an attractive option for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Events (MICE).
- Plan and execute flagship events to engage international stakeholders and industry operators.
- Drive initiatives to achieve sales targets within specified timelines as given by the management.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Establish partnerships with government agencies, tourism boards, and private sector stakeholders.
- Finalize Letters of Commitment (LOCs) with local and international MICE operators.
- Collaborate with local / provincial & national government organizations for budget allocation and policy support for MICE tourism promotion.
Capacity Building and Knowledge Sharing
- Design and deliver training programs and workshops to enhance the skills of local MICE operators.
- Support local service providers in tailoring offerings to meet international standards and client expectations.
Reporting
- Provide regular progress reports to international multilateral organizations and internal stakeholders, documenting outcomes such as increased sales, job creation, and stakeholder satisfaction.
Qualifications and Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Tourism, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
Experience
- At least 5 years of professional experience in tourism, event management, or marketing, with a focus on MICE tourism preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to manage large-scale projects involving multi-stakeholder collaboration.
- Experience working with government and private sector actors is an advantage.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong leadership, project management, and organizational skills.
- Proven ability to design and execute marketing strategies, including digital campaigns.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in monitoring, evaluation, and reporting.
- Fluency in English and Nepali (written and spoken).
